Valerie Scott - Waiting [R-3]
« on: 10 Mar 2012, 10:49 pm »
First and Last Name: Valerie Scott

Bloodline: Muggleborn
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Blue
General Build: Average
Height: Average

Birthplace: London, UK
Brief Childhood History:

Nirvana Valerie Scott was born to Aidan Scott and Rosalyn Wilson on the 11th of November. Shortly after Valerie’s first birthday, her parents had decided to split up. After the divorce, Rosalyn kept her for a couple of years, but later she willingly gave the custody to Aidan, who was more than happy to be finally seeing Valerie every day. Aidan had moved to the Manchester after the divorce, and he’s now teaching Sociology at the University of Manchester. Val's relationship with her mother is strained; Rosalyn is not maternal at all, and so far she has failed to show her daughter the affection she probably needed for a healthy relationship.

Unwillingly visiting her mother from time to time, Val had had the misfortune of happening to be there when she got her letter. Her mother scoffed at it and thought it was a scam. Her father was much more sympathetic when she finally returned home with the letter, since he had witnessed his daughter’s oddities from time to time, and her being a witch didn’t seem much stranger than the idea that their house was haunted (Val was a bit clumsy and Aidan could swear he saw broken things fixing themselves on several occasions.)

Val had a fairly happy childhood, and although she's a bit bitter towards her mother, she has a very loving relationship with her father. She grew up with a certain degree of freedom starting from a young age, so she has some doubts about how she’ll fit in a boarding wizarding school, but she’s much too excited/interested to even think about passing up the opportunity to go to Hogwarts.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
Valerie is independent and mature for her age, but you’ll never see her showing her maturity unless you somehow get her take something seriously. She is used to taking care of herself, and she can stand up for herself if the situation calls for it. She can also be charming when she wants something.

Valerie is a very quick learner, and she’s rather skilled at getting good grades with as little effort as possible. She’s more of a kinesthetic/tactile-visual learner than anything, so she’ll do better in classes which require hands-on practice than those based on theory. She will be good at wandwork, and she’ll do well in D.A.D.A. and Charms.

Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
Valerie can come off as aloof or just strange, but she’s not mean unless she has been triggered. She’s very impulsive, and she doesn’t really stop to think of the consequences of her actions.

She would say she doesn’t mind being alone, but Val would have some trouble making friends as well, just because she doesn’t follow conventions of normal social interactions. She might like/dislike someone instantly and it’ll take some time for her opinion to change. She might be too intrusive or sometimes too distant for other people feel comfortable with her.

Val has a short attention span, which might cause problems in classes where there’s not much of hands-on instruction involved. She will do poorly in Potions (because it requires precision and constant attention), Astronomy, and History of Magic.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:

I think Val belongs in Ravenclaw, mainly because how much pride she takes in her individuality. She’s witty and intelligent, and she has a passion for learning new things even though she’s not ambitious academically.

Ravenclaw house is currently closed at the moment. You will be placed on the waiting list, but if at any point you decide you would like your character to be in another house, just edit the sheet accordingly and reply here.
