Brief Childhood History: Florence is the middle child of Howard and Goldie Ott. She has one older brother, Jackson and one younger sister, Lydia. Her family is decidedly middle class, her mother works as a St. Mungo’s receptionist and her father is a History teacher.
Florence is a book smart girl who is an easy target for her siblings to tease as they are very unlike her. They don’t understand her desire to learn and dedication to her studies. The fact that she has an aversion to dirt and germs makes her that much more of an oddball to Jack and Lydia, and while they love her very much, they would never hesitate to pick on her for that quirk. Growing up, while Florence’s siblings played outside, she was content to spend time with her father, reading and studying (but not practicing) magic as well as muggle subjects. As a result of being somewhat reclusive as a young child, Florence never really learned to censor her rather blunt thoughts. She tends to say the sort of things that people think but never say, but she never means harm by it and is quick to try to make things better.
Though Florence isn’t stellar in social situations, she doesn’t let that stop her from trying. While she attended a muggle primary school, she attempted to befriend her classmates. She was teased by some, but her efforts were not completely lost. Her best friend, Della, never minded her quirks much and the two became inseparable. Since Della loved sports, Florence was always keen to tag along for soccer games at the park. She was often picked last, and played dreadfully (mostly because she spent more time trying not to get dirty than anything else) but she still enjoyed herself immensely.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Having dealt with the taunts from her siblings for years, as well as those from some of her classmates, Florence is very good at letting the hurtful things that people say and do simply slide right by. She is a generous, loyal, kind hearted, hard working and adventurous. Though she generally does not stand up for herself, she will take on any bully in an effort to help others. She is fearless when it comes to helping others. Florence’s best classes are History of Magic, thanks in part to her history loving father, Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration, as she will love to practice the spells she learn therefore helping her to learn them quickly.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Florence’s weakest classes are Potions, Herbology and Astronomy. Her dislike for getting dirty causes her no small amount of discomfort in Herbology and Potions and she sometimes finds it hard to concentrate in class. Astronomy is one of her weaker subjects simply because of the late hour. She can be socially awkward and blunt, but she never means to be cruel. Sometimes her blunt nature can make her seem like a know-it-all. She does not usually stick up for herself, which makes her an even easier target for bullies. And because she is so kind hearted and generous, she can be easily taken advantage of.
