Brief Childhood History: Willow is an only child who is doted on by her parents. Her mother (Samantha) and father (Roger) are quite well off as they are both professionals (her mum is in PR and her father is an architect). Though Willow has always been in private schools and around money both her parents come from working class backgrounds so they try their best to keep her grounded. However, Willow is influenced greatly by the friends she makes and she was always trying to be liked by the most popular girls in the school. It took Willow a while to get in with these girls as she would often make mistakes by not wearing the right clothes or talking to the wrong people (and occasionally odd things would happen around her. Once she was trying so hard to impress the popular girls that her grey and blue jumper somehow changed into a hot pink one with sparkles on it and not matter how much Willow thought she couldn’t explain how it happened). One of Willows first friends was a sweet girl called Clara, but Clara was one of the kids that was always teased by the popular girls because she was a little chubby and had freckles. Willow had to do something very mean to her (she doesn’t like to talk, or even think, about it) to get in with the popular group and Clara has never forgiven her. This incident was another of the odd things that happened around Willow – after she played the prank on Clara (seriously, she doesn’t want to talk about it) she thinks she turned invisible as no one seemed to notice her standing there.
When her letter came from Hogwarts, her mother fainted as it came as such a surprise. Her father nodded quietly because he had always suspected there was something different about his little Willow Tree. Willow is very nervous about starting at a new school and after they had visited Diagon Alley she was even more nervous because everything was so different to what she is used to (especially the fashion). Her parents are very supportive of this amazing opportunity, but Willow is still not feeling very comfortable about going so far out of her comfort zone (not to mention the fact that she now won’t be going on to the same school with her friends).
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Willow is a great reader and has a good vocabulary which is slightly higher than average. She is quite smart, but can be lazy so unless she is interested in the subject she may not do as well as she can. The subjects that fascinate her are Herbology & Charms. In terms of her personality, Willow is actually very kind even though she has done some mean things in the past. When she gets away from her ‘popular friends’ Willow can be very kind hearted and friendly. She’s also very generous.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): As said above, Willow can be very lazy and has a pretty short attention span which means she gets bored easily. Any subject that requires her to pay close attention and follow long series of instructions will not be her strong suit - these would be Potions, Astronomy & Transfiguration (and probably History of Magic as well). Willow is also quite vacuous and superficial. She is pretty much solely motivated by becoming popular which means she can come across as quite callous even if she isn’t because she’s trying so hard to impress someone else.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: If Willow wasn’t a muggle-born I would put her in Slytherin because her main goal in life is to be popular and she will (and has) done anything to get there. I’m not sure how the Sorting Hat is feeling about muggles in Slytherin these days, but if he’s open to that possibility then definitely Slytherin. The second choice would be Ravenclaw. As I said – she is quite smart and does value learning. The laziness is something that Willow may grow out of with the right encouragement and I could see the Sorting Hat being aware of that potential she has.
