Brief Childhood History:
Kessibelle was born to Tobias and Lenore Grey, making her the last of the Grey family, a family that was once fairly well-known. Many many years ago, two brothers went separate paths, and their paths divided the family forever. One brother chose to do all he could to help the wizard world, while the other seemed set on doing everything he could to expose it. He became very involved in the dark arts, and some said that it eventually drove him mad. But not before he married and had two strapping sons. And so his line went on, as did his brother's. Kessibelle, came from the darker side of the Grey family, and her father has often told her that the Dark Arts were bred into her genes and she might as well accept and embrace it.
When Kessibelle was only eight months old, her mother died. The story was that she had died from heart failure. And although she had been sick since giving birth to Kessibelle, it was a rather sudden and suspicious death. Nothing ever came of it though. Growing up, Kessibelle sought a motherly figure in everyone, including the house-elf. But eventually she realized she would never have a mother and it was silly and a waste of time to keep longing for one. But the aches didn't go away. But all the same, she sought to please her father, and make him proud, and make him love her. Tobias Grey was a harsh man, and anyone who knew him would agree to it. He had a quick temper that no one was exempt from, even his daughter. He saw no sense in foolish affections or fondling or allowing his only daughter to become weak and ruled by emotions and affections. And so, by the time she could read, he began to tutor her.
Tobias was determined for his daughter to grow up to become a witch who was both admired and feared, and he saw no reason to wait until she was enrolled and attending Hogwarts to begin her education.
While other children raced each other on toy broomsticks and played tag and leapfrog, Kessibelle was being taught the basics of magic, both giving her a head-start on what Hogwarts would soon teach her, and teaching her what Hogwarts would not. Hogwarts for one, would certainly not teach her the Dark Arts. Defense against it, yes, but Tobais wanted her to know more than how to cast a simple disarming spell or how to counter a dark spell. Kessibelle memorized curses and spells, history and battles(which she would often act out with the house-elf to help her remember), ingredients for potions, and motions for spell-casting, although casting them was another matter entirely, and her father decided that memorizing how to do them was quite enough, considering that underage magic was against the law, and he didn't particularly like the Ministry of Magic.
Strengths: Due to her father's lessons in Dark Arts, she does fairly well in Defense against the Dark Arts, finding it much easier to counter or block a curse than to cast it. But she enjoys both Potions and anything to do with magical creatures as well, and therefore does quite well in them. She has a way with animals, and tends to be quite good at raising and tending to them.
Her father has taught her that everyone can give her something, and so she has learned the way to flatter someone properly, and several ways of bribing them to like her, although her methods are far from foolproof. Despite her father's strong pureblood pride and hatred for any others, she is both kind and accepting of half-bloods, muggles, and all the rest. She is extremely loyal to those who have proven themselves to be on her side. She is extremely motivated, although if it's prompted by wanting to live up to her father's expectations or simply afraid of the consequences is she doesn't, not even she knows. She is always trying to look on the bright side of things and see the silver lining. She is extremely polite, almost to a flaw, as she was never taught that there was a time for informality, and as so, she never really relaxes around people. In front of a crowd, she gets extremely nervous and doesn't do well. She always does much better one-on-one. Although she tries hard to never let her father on to the trait, she is extremely generous. She is also extremely honest. She hates to lie, although she will do it with ease. But if she witnessed something out of line, she will often report it. But if it's something that could get others in trouble, she will often take the responsibility for it and claim it was her doing.
Although she's an awful leader, she is quite good at negotiating. She knows what she wants, and she will not back down. She is not one to show weakness in battle, and she fights fiercely to the end.
Weaknesses: Academically, Kessi struggles greatly in History of Magic, Divination(which her father taught her was a load of hogwash), and Arithmancy.
Personality wise, Kessi has more flaws than she cares to admit. And truly, she tries her best to hide them. She is quite serious, thanks to trying very hard to please her father, and she often misses out on the joy and laughter in life. She is also very quiet, as she was taught strictly not to speak unless spoken to, and even away from her father, she can't bring herself to break it. She is unaffectionate, and very secretive and guarded. Having grown up with her father, who never so much as patted her on the head, any sort of physical touch is unnerving to her. She has also learned that her feelings are best hidden, and that secrets should never be told, lest they're used against you.
Kessi has learned that other people can't be relied on to come through when you need them, and she's learned that the only person you can trust to stand with you is yourself. She is extremely mistrustful of other people. As hard as she tries to be kind to everyone, she is naturally unforgiving. Her father taught her that there are no accidents, and that if someone hurt you, it was on purpose. Hard as she tries, once you hurt her, embarrass her, or wrong her, it is stored away in her memory, and it is extremely difficult to get her to even talk to you again. She was raised to be a perfectionist. If she's going to do it, she may as well do it without flaw. She will spend hours doing a simple task just to make sure it's done to the best of her ability, or done enough that she can perfect her ability. She is also an avid worrier. She frets constantly about nearly everything: her hair, whether she made her bed, whether she used lie or lay in an essay, whether she passed or failed. It is never-ending and tends to make her rather stressed and tense.
She is also a terrible leader. She would much rather follow someone than to make the decisions to people following her.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Due to her pureblood status, and the fact that her father and his parents all were Slytherin, Kessi would fully expect to be a slytherin herself. But her heart is often conflicted between loyalty to the darkness as her father teaches her, or something better, something brighter. Her love for learning points her to Ravenclaw, but her ambition and heritage points her to Slytherin, and her kind heart and respectful nature may make her good in Hufflepuff.
