Brief Childhood History: Spencer Murphy was the first and last child born to loving parents, Rhys and Carys Murphy, in Cardigan, Wales on a rather cold, yet foggy December day. His father, an Auror at the Ministry of Magic, and his mother, a stay at home mum, raised Spencer to be a calm and intelligent boy. At the age of six months, Spencer and his family moved to London, in order to be closer to the father, who would often stay at an apartment in London throughout the week and then come home at the weekends, despite his ability to apparate.
Spencer often found adventure and knowledge in books, whereas he would find recklessness in the boys his age. He would spend his days at home, reading and learning - both of which he considered 'fun' - or with his mother, who would teach him the skills and knowledge that Muggle children would learn, and also a few basic facts of the Wizarding world. Both Muggle and Wizarding teachings interested him, and he took it upon himself to read multiple books on both worlds. Even with his fascination and striving for more knowledge, Spencer did find comfort in a young girl who lived in his village, a Muggle girl, who also shared his fascination. He had been given strict orders from both of his parents not to breath a word about the Wizarding world and magic, and if he was to bring her to their house, to give his parents prior notice so they could 'demagicfy' the house.
He showed his first sign of magic at the age of eight, and then continued to experience more magical situations until he reached the age of eleven. They were strange, crazy and unexplainable experiences, but that made them more exciting to Spencer. He received his acceptance letter the summer after his eleventh birthday. He immediately sent his owl back in reply - 'Who wouldn't want to live in an ancient castle with other wizards?', but it wasn't long after when he grew increasingly nervous. People probably wouldn't like him, and he'd be leaving his friend alone, every day, and couldn't tell her why. After visiting Diagon Alley, he grew increasingly excited to visit Hogwarts, having being told many tales of the school.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Spencer's biggest strength is his intelligence and want for more intelligence. He feels this is how own biggest strength, and often tries to put it to good use. He tries to refrain from showing and flaunting his intelligence, which leads to another strength of his - modesty. Spencer's academic strengths lie within the subjects of Potions, Transfiguration and Astronomy. They are the subjects he has the greatest interest in, but also finds they come naturally to him. Spencer is rather mature for his age - having spent most of his time around adults had helped him with this. He is also well spoken, using some language that many wouldn't expect him to use.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Spencer is rather shy, which leads him to not want to raise his hand in classes, or talk to people he doesn't know. However, he often spurts out facts he knows and answers some rhetorical questions with something he remembers. Spencer is often regarded as someone who is always watching other people's backs, which could be considered as a strength or a weakness, but at eleven years old, he cares more for his family and friends than he does himself. Academically, Spencer's weaknesses are Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology and Flying.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Spencer is a person I would consider fitting into two houses - Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. He often shows traits which fit into both houses, but I believe he would fit best into Ravenclaw house, as his main strength is his intelligence, and he shows a passion for knowledge.
