Brief Childhood History: Dean Riker Kincade is the second child born to Liam and Alice Kincade, younger brother of Fiona Dawn Kincade. He comes from a happy, fairly well balanced family who weren’t aware of the magical world until Fiona got her letter at age eleven. Well, Liam, Dean, and Fiona didn’t know about magic, anyway. Alice was hiding the fact that she was a witch from the family, as she had given up magic entirely after her parents died in a Potions accident. Amazingly enough the family took the news well and adjusted to it, and Dean couldn’t wait to get his letter when he turned eleven as well.
Liam works at the university in Cork in the environmental research department, and Alice currently works in Potions research for healing after giving up her job in the same field as her husband. The family, Dean included, love everything nature related and will often be found at the beach or camping when their schedules allow it. Dean is athletic and energetic, and spent most of his childhood (when he wasn’t sticking up for his older sister) surfing, playing football, and skateboarding, as well as hiking and swimming and whatever other outdoor activity he could manage. He and Fiona are extremely close, and are both balls of sunshine and almost mirror images of each other, other than being of opposite genders.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): As previously mentioned, Dean is a ball of sunshine. He’s friendly, outgoing, optimistic, and healthy, despite being the only member of the family that eats meat. In classes, he enjoys Herbology and will do well in it, and will also really enjoy Divination in the future. He’ll do well in Transfigurations and Charms as well, basically anything hands on will work well for him. He’ll also be a bit of a heartbreaker as he ages, which can be both a strength and a weakness, depending on how you want to look at it.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Dean often speaks without thinking, which gets him in trouble from time to time, and his loyalty often brings out a bit of a quick temper. He’s easily distracted and will struggle with classes that require him to pay attention to lectures like History of Magic and Astronomy. He’ll also have some trouble in potions due to his short attention span.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Dean is all Hufflepuff. He’s loyal to a fault, and doesn’t object to getting his hands dirty, figuratively and literally, when there’s something he wants to achieve. He’s friendly and accepting, and would do anything for his sister or one of his friends.
