Brief Childhood History: Ezekiel Zachary Thomas, though he won’t respond to anything but Zeke, was born to two loving parents, Rosaline Nichols and Nicholas Thomas, on December 22. His father is a high-school football coach and his mother is an elementary school teacher. Because of his father’s influence, Zeke became a part of a youth football league when he was five years old. Also when he was five, his parents gave birth to his sister, Eliza Rose Thomas.
Zeke lived a typically muggle existence, without any knowledge of magic and attended muggle school, during which he quickly became fascinated with reptiles and amphibians around the age of eight. In his free time, Zeke could often be found disobeying some sort of rule his parents set for him, whether it be staying up past bed time and watching TV (which his parents miraculously couldn’t hear because of some unforeseen force nudgenudge) instead or breaking a vase by being too careless, or simply being mad at his parents. None of this was connected to magic, however. He definitely made a mess of the flat. Of course, that was when he wasn’t keeping up with the task of football practice, which he’d also developed a passion for goal-keeping. He managed to convince his parents that he was responsible to take care of an iguana when he was 9, which he clichély and un-creatively named Spike, and two geckos, which he begrudgingly let Eliza name “Sparkles” and “Fluffernutter.” Zeke refuses to call them that, though, much preferring the nicknames Super-S and Fantastic-F. Anything else, and he’d be in for a whiney Eliza and scolding parents.
When he finally turned eleven, the Hogwarts letter came in just on time, and all of a sudden, all the things Zeke got away with became clear to Rosaline and Nicholas, though Rosaline should have connected the dots much earlier, seeing as she had a magical brother. He only visited infrequently though, so it was a shock nonetheless. As soon as Uncle Marcus heard the news, though, he immediately visited to reassure Rosaline and Nicholas and explain everything to them. Why, he even escorted them all around Diagon Alley. Ezekiel looked forward to his time at Hogwarts, already enchanted by the stories his Uncle had told him.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Zeke has never been lacking in confidence. He is active and strong and fast, with a typically athletic build. He always says what’s on his mind, which is a bit of a double-sided sword, both a weakness and strength. He’s almost always honest, because he doesn’t quite see any reasons to lie about anything. In muggle school, Zeke made friends relatively easy with his sense of humor and his ability to be nothing but himself. At Hogwarts, his best subject is Defense Against the Dark Arts, and he’ll definitely take a liking to flying and find some ability in that.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Zeke never did extraordinarily well in school, being the active and easily-distracted person he is. He can easily get on people’s nerves by being too loud or too cocky with his abundance of confidence. He definitely has an ego and a highly-flammable temper. He refuses to take no as an answer and is incredibly persistent when it comes to getting what he wants. He doesn’t use back-handed means to get it, though, seeing as he is about the least cunning person you’ll meet. He’s just an excellent badger-er. Academic weaknesses would be just about everything, in particular Charms, mostly because he finds charms to be a lazy way of doing stuff that could be done by without magic.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Gryffindor, without a doubt. Zeke is loud and impulsive and doesn’t think before acting, though of course that’s not what truly defines him as a Lion. I imagine that he will be very chivalrous once he matures some, and he never backs down from a challenge. He has two different kinds of bravery – one, the ability to be himself no matter what, and two, he will always take risks to push and better himself. He welcomes the experience of confronting his fears.
