Nathaniel Blake - Approved [R]
« on: 18 Sep 2011, 06:31 pm »
First and last name: Nathaniel Blake

Bloodline: Half-blood
Hair color: Blond
Eye color: Heterochromatic (blue left, green right)
General build: Average
Height: Average

Birthplace: London, England
Brief childhood history: Nathaniel was born to a pureblood former Ravenclaw and a Muggle woman and is their only child.  His father is a scholar of ancient magical civilizations and isn't often home, but he spends almost all his time with his family when he is.  His mother is a primary school teacher in London, and since neither of them were able to stay at home while he was young, he had a series of nannies.

The first magical outburst he remembers was when he was around four years old and accidentally exploded a vase of flowers during an argument with his nanny over snacktime.  His father had to rush home to Obliviate the woman, and hired a witch to take her place.  He also explained magic to Nathaniel, who became very excited about being "special" and asked his father to show him tricks every time he came home.

When he was old enough, they dismissed his nanny and he attended the same primary school at which his mother taught, going to school with her in the morning and sitting in her classroom before his class started.  After school, he'd go to her classroom and wait for her to finish her work, usually doing his "homework" (coloring, numbers, the alphabet, etc.) as he waited.  He was a good student and a quick learner, and he loved reading.  His mother would read him a bedtime story every night, and when he was good enough to read by himself, he always begged her to bring him to the library on weekends so he could sit in the children's section and devour the books.  He didn't like hanging out with other children very much because they stared at his eyes and sometimes called him names because of them.

When his father came home when he was seven, they had a more serious discussion about Hogwarts, since Nathaniel was able to understand now.  He's been eagerly awaiting his owl since.  When his father's not home, Nathaniel also sneaks into his study to read his magic books.  He tried to read the books that his father uses for his studies, but found them rather boring- the only kind of book he doesn't like to read: history.  He can't wait to go to Hogwarts, but will miss his parents when he's there.  He loves them dearly, and knows they love him too.

Strengths (including Personality and Academic): Nathaniel is very polite, intelligent, and respectful.  He's a very hard worker and always puts in all his effort into his work.  He thinks very logically and rationally, and is an excellent problem-solver. His best subjects are practical ones- especially Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms.
Weaknesses (including Personality and Academic): Nathaniel is slightly insecure about his heterochromia because of his encounters with the children back home. His social skills are weak, since he preferred hanging out with books more than hanging out with other children when he was younger.  Sometimes, if he's very intent on his work, he has a tendency to ignore everyone and everything else around him.  He's also a real stickler for the rules, which can annoy people. He's worst at History of Magic, which he just finds boring.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Nathaniel would probably be a Ravenclaw. He's very clever and loves books and learning (except history).  His personal ambition at Hogwarts is to read every book in the library, including as many in the Restricted Section as he can- with permission, of course.  He would also enjoy standing outside the Ravenclaw Common Room trying to exhaust the eagle of riddles for no reason other than his own amusement.

Hi and welcome to HPRPG :D

Just a small thing I have to ask you to change~. While it's fine for children to be smart and 'advanced,' magical children are still human.  :sweatdrop: Six is a bit young to be able to read adult books, even if you claim he wasn't fully understanding them. At that age, they're still learning the basic concepts of reading and comprehending. You can surely say he was fascinated by the books, and that he could read some of the words, by all means.  (I say this as the mother of a five year old, and as a graduate of Child Development in college  )

Once you've made your edits to your sheet, switch your subject line from 'pending' to 'edited' and you should be good to go. :D

all my love for Tany

Sorry, that's what I meant. He understood stuff like "Potions are concoctions made from a mixture of magical ingredients"- after asking a house-elf what "concoctions" meant and having them help him sound out the longer words. Stuff like "on the theorie of magicke most evile, one must endeavour to devote oneself most fully to the studie of the humors and..." would just fly over his head.

Heya Nathaniel and thank you for clearing that up!

Unfortunately, Slytherin is currently closed, so I'm going to go ahead and pop Nathaniel on the waiting list. If, at any time during your wait, you feel you can see Nathaniel in another house feel free to edit accordingly and poke us here. <3

Hey, sorry, I completely revamped my profile.  I had a better name for my Slythie character- I'll probably apply for a second when I can. :)
