Brief Childhood History: Jaffer's mother was a witch who fell in love with a muggle. Jaffer's family now lives in a small, magically hidden, home near Leicester Square. Jaffer's Father works in a small gardening shop only 10 minutes from their home by bus.
Jaffer spent his childhood between two worlds, he has known of magic his entire life, and even knows the basics of several spells, though he is yet to cast any. While on the other foot, he spent a fair amount of time with his father, helping in the garden and being an assistant in the shop. He has a strong grasp of mundane plants and their uses, although he is less knowledgeable about magical flora.
Jaffer had been told by his mother that he would go to Hogwarts for almost three years before he got the letter. When it did arrive, Jaffer had barely enough time to read it before his mother was planning a trip to Diagon Alley. There his mother purchased everything Jaffer would need.
Jaffer's wand was purchased from Ollivander, like most of the Hogwarts students. His wand is made of strong yew wood, with a core of phoenix feather. His wand was described by Ollivander as "Solid, but not unyielding."
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Jaffer is a fast learner, he does not like to give up and will try anything at least once for the experience. He has a strong knowledge of horticulture, especially the care of rare, although mundane, plants.
One of Jaffer's magical strengths lies in herbology, as there are a number of similarities between mundane plants and those with magical properties.
Jaffer's knowledge of plant properties also allows him to see connections when mixing them, even with magical ingredients, as such Jaffer finds it easier to understand and follow recipes for potions.
Lastly, Jaffer's mother worked in health care for the ministry, mostly patching up people hurt in experiments, Jaffer has watched his mother work on occasion and has learnt several tricks about healing magic, this should assist him in his studies.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Jaffer doesn't make friends easily, he is usually too withdrawn to get involved in conversations. He is far more reactive then proactive, waiting for others to make the first move. He will sometimes bury himself in work if he is nervous due to his lack of social skills.
Jaffer has trouble grasping the basics of transfiguration, not being able to understand how something can change so drastically.
Jaffer is also rather nervous around magical monsters, having heard several muggle stories and being able to figure out that a magical creature was behind it. As such Jaffer would be hesitant to enrol in the care of magical creatures class.
Jaffer will not enter flying classes, as he is afraid of heights.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Jaffer would like to get into Ravenclaw for several reasons. Firstly because his family crest is a white raven, His mother was in Ravenclaw when she attended the school.
Lastly, Jaffer believes himself to be creative enough to get into Ravenclaw, having been told many times by his mother the Ravenclaw motto: "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure."
