Kaili Kensington - Approved [G]

First and Last Name:  Kaili Kensington

Bloodline:  Half-Blood

Hair Color:  Brunette

Eye Color:  Light Brown

General Build:  Average

Height:  Average

Birthplace:  Manchester, England

Brief Childhood History:  Kaili Kensington was born in Manchester, England to parents Raya and Christopher Kensington.  Kaili's parents had met in a quaint coffee shop in her hometown.  She loved to hear the story every chance she got.  To her, it was as close to a real-life fairy tale as she had ever heard.  Raya had worked at the aforementioned coffee shop as a waitress since she had finished school.  She was trying to save up enough money to go to college an fulfill her dream of obtaining her Ph.D. in Child Psychology.  As she worked, Raya noticed a handsome young man come into the coffee shop once a week.  Every time he came in, he ordered the same thing.  Raya made sure to take note of what he ordered so she could tell the cooks as soon as he walked in so he wouldn't have to wait long for his meal.  However, Raya was as shy as they came, and never mustered up enough courage to talk to the man she'd been serving for a while now.  What Raya didn't know, however, was that Christopher had also noticed her since the moment he stepped food into the coffee shop and kept returning every week in hopes that she would talk to him about something besides his order.  He had noticed she was shy, however, and had made up his mind to be the one to make the first move.  Once this actually took place, the two were inseparable.  They were married soon after and Kaili was born a year and half after their wedding.

It was easy for Raya and Christopher to remain together.  Raya had accepted Christopher's wizard self since he had first shared his secret with her.  She had become fascinated at the fact that an entirely different world existed alongside her own.  She wanted to know everything there was to know about the magical world, and she hoped that their daughter, Kaili, would be given the opportunity to attend the same school Christopher had attended: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  Now, Raya was currently in school, pursuing the degree she had always sought, Christopher worked in the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement (anything having to do with law intrigued Christopher), and Kaili was eleven years old, anxiously awaiting her acceptance letter.

Growing up, Kaili had always been the adventurous type.  She was very sociable and made friends easily.  Her mother always complained that she paid more attention to her friends than to her family, but in her heart, Kaili's family always came first to her.  The house she had grown up in was not a mansion by any means, but it was a well-sized building, big enough for the three of them to live in, plus enough space for guests to stay in when they came to visit.  Kaili had her own playroom where she stored all her toys (whatever pertained to the phase she was going through at the moment) and also had a pocket-door that led to a smaller, but equally appealing, room that Kaili frequently had sleep-overs in.  Kaili's parents preferred Kaili to have sleep-overs at their house instead of sending her off to sleep-over at someone else's house.

Until recently, Kaili had never known true sadness.  She had always had a happy childhood and, although not a spoiled daughter, she frequently was given whatever she asked for (as long as it was reasonably within her parent's reach).  However, grief had struck their family when Raya's oldest sister had passed away due to stomach cancer, shortly followed by the death of Kaili's maternal grandmother, who had suffered a stroke.  Nine months later, Kaili's paternal grandfather had also fallen ill and passed away shortly after contracting pneumonia.  Within a year, Kaili had lost three of her closest family members.  Her mother had been devastated.  She didn't seem herself lately, but she tried to keep busy with school.  Kaili, taking after Raya, did the same.  She concentrated on her schoolwork, distracted herself as much as she could with her friends, and tried not to think about her family members.  She didn't really completely understand the concept of death just yet, but she knew it would be a long time before she would ever be reunited with them again, if ever.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):  Kaili had grown up in a happy family unit.  She had developed as an outgoing child, always knowing more than a child her age should know.  She communicated well with others, both children and adults alike.  She had an aura about her that made everyone she came into contact with instantly feel like they'd known her forever.  In school, Kaili had always excelled.  There was nothing more she enjoyed than waking up in the morning and attending all her classes, only to come home in the afternoon and delve into her books, trying to absorb as much knowledge as the subject matter allowed her to.  She never got tired of studying and was always open and willing to learn as much as possible.  She had always liked plants and animals, and was excited to be able to take Herbology if given the chance to attend Hogwarts.  Potions was a topic she had also always been interested in.  She had learned the topic from her father, who always ranted about how he disliked the subject so much and didn't altogether agree with its teaching at the magical school.  Christopher's dislike for the subject had pushed Kaili to look into it further, only to discover that she could not wait until she was actually allowed to mix potions herself.

Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):  Kaili had a tendency to take on more than she could manage.  That had always been a problem for her.  Although she always finished what was asked of her, she ended up stressed and exhausted at the end of the day.  But that's just how she was.  She had to keep busy at all times.  She didn't like having too much leisure time on her hands.  She preferred to be reading a book or studying a new topic that she had come across.  After interrogating her father in reference to what Hogwarts might be like, Kaili had come to the realization that she would, for the first time in her life, probably not excel in all the different topics available to her at the magical school.  Charms seemed especially difficult to her, and she hadn't even taken the course yet!  She just couldn't fathom how she would be able to do certain things, will things to move or levitate just with a wand.  It didn't made sense to her.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:  Christopher had been in Gryffindor House when he had attended Hogwarts and, of course, wanted nothing but for Kaili to be sorted into Gryffindor as well.  Admiring her father as she did, this is also what Kaili wanted.  She knew Gryffindors were brave and courageous and she thought she possessed these qualities entirely (after all, she had learned from the best: her father).  But she also thought she would do good in Ravenclaw.  They were known for their brains as well and she thought, if nothing else, she had that going for her.  After balancing the two out, Kaili hoped more than anything she would be sorted into Gryffindor.  Hogwarts was going to be a new stage in her life, and she wanted to make her parents proud.

Hi there! Welcome to HPRPG!

Before we can get your sorted, there are just a few things to attend to.

We seem to be getting a lot of great history about Kaili's parents, but almost nothing about her own childhood. We want to know more about Kaili! What did she do growing up? Did she attend school? Did she have friends? Anything like that.

And we'll also need to know whether you prefer Kaili being sorted into Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, since we can't choose for you. ;)

Once you've done that, just change the title from 'pending' to 'edited'!

On another note, just know that the current image you are using in your avatar is too old to portray Kaili. Remember that she's only 11. :D

Thanks for the edits ^_^

Unfortunately, Gryffindor is closed at the moment, so I'm going to put you on the waiting list. It shouldn't take too long, but if you'd prefer not to wait, you can edit your sheet and reply here with a different house choice. :D

all my love for Tany

That's okay.  I'll wait it out for now.

Question: in terms of classes, have those started already?  Or did the term just end and a new one going to begin?  I can't see anything besides the basics on the home screen so I'm not really aware of much that's going on...

Right now there are no classes because it's summer. You can read in the announcements/calendar events area for details on that. Any other details, you'll be able to see when you're sorted~ The new term starts in September, though, just like it would in the books. :)
