First and Last Name:   Lachlan McLaughlin

Bloodline: Half-blood.
Hair Color: Blonde.
Eye Color: Blue.
General Build: Average.
Height: Average.

Birthplace: Dunleer, Ireland.

Brief Childhood History:
Lachlan was born, and spent the first five years of his life, surrounded by Not A Whole Lot Of Anything, Really in the small town of Dunleer, Ireland. Lahlan’s father, Darren McLaughlin, was a business management professor at a university about twenty minutes out of Dunleer, where he met and fell in love with Lachlan’s mother, a pure-blood witch named Audrey. Three years after Lachlan was born, his mother gave birth to his little sister, Bonnie. As a result of Audrey’s stubborn persistence, both children were named after her late parents. However unfortunate this was for Lachlan, to have such an awkward coupling of first and last names, there was not much Darren could say against his wife.

Beyond the knowledge that his mother was a witch and had abruptly left the family when he was only five years old, Lachlan does not know much about her, or the circumstances surrounding her separation from his father. Darren had taken as much knowledge of the magical world from Audrey as he could, and made a point to continue his research for the sake of his son the moment he started showing signs of magical abilities – mostly during bouts of intense emotion, and typically involving small fires starting where small fires should not start. For a little while, Lachlan felt a bit detached from his powerless sister, but attending a Muggle school as a child and keeping his own powers a secret gave him a proud sense of entitlement. He had been carefully and lovingly raised to understand that he was special, not strange, but it was nobody else’s business to know. Lachlan was surprisingly okay with that. He was a superhero. A very distracted, unscholarly superhero.

A year before Lachlan received his Hogwarts letter, his family was moved to Dublin, where his father had gotten a better job at a bigger university. When the letter came, Lachlan regarded it with a mixed feeling of excitement and apprehension, and his father was beyond overjoyed. Being a professor himself, he could not possibly pass up the chance to send his admittedly slightly dimwitted son to an environment where he could be himself, to intellectually flourish and academically thrive.

Or so he thought.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
Lachlan is an incredibly friendly and sociable boy who strives to be genuinely liked by his peers. He has always been an active, athletically-inclined child and has his eyes set on Quidditch from the moment he steps foot into Hogwarts. Thus, he will dedicate himself with almost uncharacteristic vigor to Flying. He has a particular fondness for plants, and due to his compassionate nature he will likely do well in classes that involve dependency on him – he could excel marvelously in Herbology and, eventually, Care of Magical Creatures.

Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
The three aforementioned classes are probably the ONLY three that he will be good at. Lachlan is easily bored and struggles in classes that involve a lot of Thinking or Paying Attention – his worst subjects will probably be Potions, History of Magic, and Transfiguration. He also often tries to slink by the rules without getting caught and can be an insufferable trouble-maker.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:
Although he gets himself into a slew of trouble at a younger age, his immovable loyalty, devotion, and protective nature over those whom he holds close could easily earn him a spot in Gryffindor.
