Brief Childhood History:
Remington, often called Remmy for short, was raised in the small town of Seskinore by his parents, Ruth and Finnegan Gotleaf. He was born in the dead of winter on December 28th. It was a dreary night in Northern Ireland, and Ruth was forced to give birth in their small cottage while the wind raged outside. The birth itself was a shock; Mr. and Mrs. Gotleaf had been trying to have a child for many years. They finally gave up, and adopted a baby named Aiden. Upon his adoption, however, Ruth Gotleaf found out that she was pregnant.
Remmy’s quiet nature appeared at quite an early age; even though the night was dark and terrifying, little Remmy made no noise as he came into the world. His shy personality made him an easy target, and is often tormented by his brother. When Remmy turned 3 years old, Mrs. Gotleaf had another miraculous pregnancy, resulting in a third child: Amie Winifred. Remmy and Amie Winn fell in love instantly, becoming a dynamic sibling duo. Aiden hated the pair of them, and would sit far away, brooding and sulking. Mr. and Mrs. Gotleaf were both half-blood, and it was therefore expected that Remmy would get an invitation to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry after his eleventh birthday. Aiden, however, received no such letter, which caused more tension between the brothers.
Remmy promised his young sister that he would write to her every day that he was away at school, and reminded her of the wonderful Christmas and Summer breaks they will get to share together.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
Remmy is very intelligent for his age. He he does especially well in Astronomy and Potions, and dreams of taking Arithmancy. In muggle school, before his acceptance to Hogwarts, Remmy especially excelled in his science courses. He loves to wear goggle and play around with nature and the elements. He also enjoys flying, a hobby that allows him to feel free and escape from the world of people. Remmy’s father gave him an old pair of Quiddich goggles that once belonged to Remmy’s grandfather, leading to his intense passion for flying. While he has never played for sport, he has an old Nimbus 2001 that he enjoys free flying.
He is also an impeccably sincere and skilled boy. While he's often very quiet, he has a knack for getting people to tell him secrets. Remmy is an amazing listener, as well an affectionate boy, and gives many hugs to the few people who get close to him.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
While Remmy is very good at picking secrets from other people's minds, he's not very good at revealing his own. He's a very friendly boy, however he does not communicate well and lacks skills that relate with people. He also has a severe trust in fate, which can be both a good and bad thing, but has gotten him into trouble. When he was younger, 9 years old, Remmy made friends with a sweet muggle boy named Pander O'Connell. The boy trusted Remmy with his life, and they were quite the team. However, one day Pander called his best friend with news that his kitten had fallen into the river and couldn't swim. He asked for Remmy's help because he looked up to him. Alas, Remmy ran off instead. It was not out of cowardice, but out of fear of breaking the laws of fate. What is meant to be is meant to be, and Remmy did not feel that he could allow the kitten to cheat death. He had fallen into the river for a reason, and it was his time to go.
That being said, his worst subjects in school will be History of Magic and Ancient Ruins, classes that deal more with people.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:
I feel that Remmy would fit best in the Ravenclaw house. He’s very intelligent and caring, and good at solving problems on his own. Puzzles, problems, numbers, and science are his forte, and he would do well with others who enjoy similar hobbies.
