First and Last Name: Rigal Sphinx
Bloodline: Pureblood
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dull Blue
General Build: Petite
Height: Average
Birthplace: Wiltshire, England
Brief Childhood History: : Rigal was born into a relatively purist family, one that valued blood purity above all else. His mother’s family is of distant relation to the Black’s (which explains the star name) and is hence highly thought of. His father’s family, the Sphinx’s, are again another elitist family. Though their involvement in the wizarding war was not quite as significant as his mothers, they were notably sided with Voldemort, seeing his values as rather imperative.
Rigal’s life pre-hogwarts was rather interesting, seeming as he was the ‘black sheep’ of the family. Rigal, despite being the first born son, tended to rebel against his parents. Though he is an extremely quiet boy, it was not uncommon of him to do something rash. Smashing china simply for the fun of it seemed the least of his mother’s worries. Needless to say, Rigal does not agree with his parents values. His father, after catching him playing with a half-blooded boy at the park, locked him in his room for a week. Since this incidence, he has tried a little harder to mingle with his own kind though finds their children to be spoiled brats. In saying this, Rigal has a rather good relationship with his parents and younger brother. This is not to say they do not have their disagreements, simply that he does not despise his parents.... nor do they despise him.
The Sphinx family would never willingly send their child to a Muggle school and hence, Rigal was homeschooled. He had little interaction with children his own age and simply longed to be at Hogwarts. Both of his parents were Slytherins and hence he only sees it fit that he follow in their footsteps. As much as he disagrees with his parents at times, he truly wishes to please them. If only to avoid future conflicts.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
): Like his mother, Rigal seems to excel at Charms. This is not to say that he will not excel in other subjects, more so, has a way with spells. His knowledge of charms will too help him during defense against the dark arts.
Rigal is an extremely welcoming character, not really scrutinizing people as his parents do. More than anything, he wishes to fit in. Though he would be more comfortable befriending a pureblood (mostly for his parent’s benefit), blood purity is not really a deciding factor. The boy, when around friends, is cheerful. Loyalty also seems to be something Rigal holds dear. Never would he turn his back on a friend, even if it meant giving his life.
Rigal is extremely compassionate and brave, in fact, these traits seem to land him in a whole heap of trouble. Though his bravery is linked to his compassion, it is still a rather dominant characteristic. If the boy saw someone in need, he would not think twice about coming to their rescue. No matter who the person was. Never would the boy go looking for trouble... nor would he ever encourage it.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
Potions will be Rigal’s least favorite lesson, mostly due to his ineptitude. I doubt the boy will take too kingly to care Care of Magical creatures either, seeming as he has a mutual dislike of animals.
Rigal seems to have a need to please others, in fact, he yearns for acceptance. This may be partly due to his parents overall distaste of his behavior though mostly it relates back to his compassion. Rigal seems brooding at most times though in reality he would simply rather listen to a conversation than partake in it. This is not to say that he would not chat with others, he would simply not go out of his way to talk to someone, unless of course they were a close friend.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:
Rigal definitely belongs in Hufflepuff, he is extremely loyal, trustworthy and kind. Though these traits seem fitting within other houses, they are most predominantly Hufflepuff qualities. He would do well among the badgers as he seems to have a similar spirit and longing to make friends.
