Brief Childhood History: Riley was born, July 14, and raised in Castle Point, England. Her parents are William & Lucy (nee Nolan) who met at Hogwarts when they went to school there. William was on his house Quidditch team in school. Though not good enough to go pro he did find a job in Department of Magical Games and Sports at the Ministry. Lucy was raised in Blackpool, England by her muggle family who worked for the local amusement park. When Lucy got her letter it was quiet a surprise to the Nolan’s. After attending Hogwarts Lucy found a love of Herbology and now cultivates her own herbs. A few years after graduation William and Lucy got married then after a few more years had Riley.
Growing up in Castle Point was always a laid back affair. There were many days spent exploring the remains of Hadleigh Castle, playing sports at Waterside Farm Sports Centre on Canvey Island and getting ready for the Castle Point Show, a summer spectacular held at Waterside Farm Showground. There were also many a summer holiday spent in Blackpool on the beach or at the Promenade. She would watch her muggle Nan Nolan tell peoples future by looking at their palms or dealing out some cards. Riley’s parents were quick to inform her that this was not real magic. Still she thought it was neat and had her Nan Nolan teach her a bit about it. Riley found it was just a bit of guessing what the person wanted to hear and that her parents were right, it wasn't real magic.
There were also days spent helping her mother find and catalog herbs. She also learned a great love of Quidditch from her father and was even allowed to attend a professional match once when it happened to be in Essex. Her Papa Durbin would often take her to the shore to collect shells and if no one was around show her real magic that he had learned at Hogwarts then honed in his years of travels. Riley could sit four hours and listen to her Papa Durbin’s stories about far off places and the magic he encountered there.
She spent her formative school years being homeschooled by her mother. Not that they found anything wrong with muggle primary school they just thought it best to keep Riley close. One never does know when accidental magic might happen. Sure enough Riley did have a few cases of accidental magic and received her letter.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Riley is a bundle of energy. This often comes in handy when longs tasks need to get gone. She has the spirit of an adventure and longs to go on epic quests like her Papa. When there is a friend in need Riley will come to their aid. Since she had spent so much time around Herbs helping her mom she will do well in Herbology. Not that she has been on a broom but Riley fancies herself a natural talent in flying.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Curiosity killed the cat and has had a few swipes at Riley as well. Unable to help herself she often finds herself in situations she should not be. Riley tends to get bored and starts to daydream which can be an issue in a school setting. She is extremely impatient. She hates to wait and often looks for instant gratification. Wrong or right Riley will dig her heels in and not let up. This often causes fights with friends that are not easily mended. History of Magic is going to be her very worst subject due to the boredom. Potions will also be an issue only because they require patience which Riley poses little of.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Hufflepuff would be perfect for Riley. While she does have a few strong traits leaning toward Gryffindor her soul is that of a pirate and as we all know badgers by day pirates by night. Plus no one ever suspects the Hufflepuffs when mischief is afoot.
