Brief Childhood History: Ella was the youngest child of Lawrence and Giselle James, a young married couple making their way in the world. Lawrence met Giselle on a family trip to Sweden when he was 16. The two were instantly smitten and when he came of age, he sent for his young love. Together they made a life in London once Lawrence graduated from Hogwarts and began his settling into his job as an accountant for The Ministry of Magic. Welcoming the birth of Ella's older brother Marcus and the continued adjustment of Giselle to the urbine culture of the UK, Lawrence thought it'd be best if he moved his small family to another place. Before the move could occur, Giselle became pregnant with their second child. Once she gave birth to Jennifer, Ella's older sister, the family moved out to Suffolk to began their peaceful lives.
When young Ella came into the world kicking and screaming, the picture perfect marriage of the James' began to crumble. Under the stress of raising three children, living in a new world, and realizing the disadvantages to her husband being a wizard, Giselle began to rebel against what was expected of her as a mother and wife. She was a free spirit and now she was trapped. The fights began frequently and instead of being raised into the loving environment her siblings had the benefit to experience, Ella was subjected to loud bouts between her parents. She began to rely on her older brother heavily and when he moved out of the home. Ella was virtually alone. At age 7, Ella's parents were divorced and she was forced to stay with him. Although her mother makes appearances into her life, Ella's used to staying alone. Despite her father's loving exterior, he often doesn't have the time to attend to his young daughter. His apologies have become closets full of clothes, toys she rarely touches, and small trinkets. Although she was slightly isolated from the other children, Ella attended a school for young girls and managed to make a couple of friends. A young girl named Melanie seemed to truly understand Ella. Mel and El, they were called by the other young girls. To this day, Melanie and Ella are best friends.
As her loneliness grew, so did her penchant for learning. When her father would work and she was bored of watching the telly with the babysitter, Ella would sneak into her father's study and read the "big books" on his shelf. Although she didn't understand many of the words and ideas, she liked to feel smart by getting through pages and pages of the book before her father could make it back home. Three days after her 11th birthday, Ella watched as her father handed her a letter. His face clearly exhibited pride and joy and as she slid her hands over the plain looking envelope, she wondered what was so exciting about a simple letter...
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Ella's unfailing technique to hold herself with poise and grace has gained her attention even at the tender age of 11. She's known as something of a "ice queen" to the parents of her neighborhood and just plain "weird" to the young children around. Instead of playing outside, Ella preferred to play with her dolls and reach herself night time stories. As a student, her strength lies in Potions and Charms. Her unyielding determination to get things done right and quickly keep her coming back for more when most would give up.
Another bonus for Ella is her sense of loyalty. Once she has a bond with you or she cares, Ella will give her life to protect you. Nothing could stop her from defending the honor of those she cares about. Her bravery is something that she learned to acquire at a very young age. She needed it to speak up and be vocal about what she needed towards her parents.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Despite her brightness, Ella can be stubborn as a mule. If she doesn't feel something is important, she won't focus on it at all. Almost as if it is a waste of time. Her weakness would be something along the lines of Divination or Herbology. Her coldness and inability to let things go without an argument could cause problems for her.
Besides those little tidbits, Ella is spoiled. Having a father who drowns her in gifts and a mother who gives in because of her guilt is quite profitable to Ella. Her older siblings also have a hand in her behavior. Most especially her older brother. His "Ella Bear" is a sly little something who's not shy about having her wishes known.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Without a doubt, she's a Slytherin. Determined. Focused. Without purpose, she'd be lost. It's her drive. Her passion is to know more than the average person. To be held in high regards. At the same time, her passion could easily be translated into the Gryffindor house.
