First and Last Name: Zariel Rhian

Bloodline: Pureblood
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Hazel
General Build: Petite
Height: Short

Birthplace: London, UK

Brief Childhood History: Zariel was born on April 16th to Atoosa Maryam Rhian and Taher Rhian, who are both pureblood descendants of a royal Persian family. Her parents are wealthy, but they are not, despite their genealogy, obsessed with blood purity or wealth. She was brought up aware that she will most likely be magic, but she worried that she might not be magic until one day her magical ability presented itself when she was 8 years old. She was fighting with her sister over a hat, and the hat burst into flames when she started to yell at her. She and her younger sister, Bousseh, were very scared at the time, but Zariel was also relieved to find out that she is magical. She grew up around witches and wizards, and she did not attend muggle school. Instead, she was taught by her mother and father from the age 6 on. Her parents are very intellectual, and they raised Zariel with both Persian and British cultures. They valued knowledge and virtue above all else, so they encouraged Zariel to read, and she was more than eager to do so.

Zariel spends her time reading and playing with things around the house. She loves to tinker with magical objects and invent new things. The things she likes to invent are not important, and usually not even magical. She loves to try mixing different fruits and their juices to create delicious smoothies, for instance. She likes to draw magical creatures in her sketchbook, as best as she can from the stuff she read about them. She loves riddles and puzzles, and her favorite books are of mystery/suspense genre. She doesn't go out much, and is not very good at making friends. She likes being alone, but she also likes the company of others, depending on their attitude towards her. She is easily offended and can be depressed for a long time if hurt. Once, when she was 10 years old, muggle girls teased her about her appearance. She was in a muggle library, because she found muggle books also interesting. She was reading in a corner with her elegant but plain dress (her mother dressed her, always), long, dark hair (which wasn't done, she did not care about her appearance much) and "outsider" appearance. Four girls came over, and they started giggling and talking loudly about how weird she looked. Zariel was so upset at being humiliated that she cried all the way home (and she hated to cry, because it made her feel weak), although she was grateful that nothing magical happened. After that incident, she didn't turn against muggles, but she just did not go out into muggle world if she could avoid it.

The most exciting thing for her was shopping for her books and supplies, and she started to read some of her books right away, although she was bored by some of them and found out that she preferred regular books to textbooks.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Zariel is a kind girl, and she does not treat anyone in a negative way unless she has a reason. Although she bottles up a lot of resentment inside for people who treat her badly, she can be very forgiving when she sees the person trying to make amends. She’s very intelligent, and loves to read. She likes being pointed out her mistakes (as long as the intent is well and the language is kind), because it helps her become better. She's especially excited about finally owning a wand, and she's dying to learn all of the spells in her Charms book. She will be especially good at Potions, Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): She can be very depressing and self-deprecating on the inside, but she might come off as bossy because she’s a know-it-all. She’s kind of a loner, and doesn’t have much social skills. She doesn’t see herself above others but she can’t stand it when she thinks others are wrong. She will struggle with Transfiguration, History of Magic, and Herbology. She thinks Transfiguration will be incredibly hard, and even though she loves challenges, she doesn't know if she'll be successful at it (she's afraid of failure, really). She thinks History of Magic is very boring, but she doesn't yet know how she feels about Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: I feel like my character belongs in Gryffindor, because although she’s intelligent and witty, she will find that she's also bold when it comes to things she believes in. She loves to read, and she values academic achievement very highly (it’s partly because of her family’s expectations from her), but she's also very loyal to her friends and she'll stick with them to the end. Since Zariel comes from the merging of two cultures, she's very open-minded and tolerant towards all people, and she’s brave about the things she feels she must do. She will take risks, and she’s ambitious, but she wont put herself before all others. She’s not cunning enough to belong to Slytherin. She’s not that attached to her family (she loves them, but doesn't mind being apart), and she’s incredibly impatient, so I really don't think she belongs in Hufflepuff, although she values her friends very much.

Heya Zariel and welcome to HPRPG~!

Unfortunately, Ravenclaw house is now closed, but I shall put you on the waiting list! If, at any time during your wait, you'd like to edit your sheet and change the house you see Zariel being sorted into, feel free, and poke us here, otherwise we'll sort you within the next week so long as the house opens!

Just a note-- you picked out one singular trait for each house as to why Zariel wouldn't be sorted there. Either she's not heroic, not cunning, and she's impatient. I'd just like to point out that not every Gryffindor is heroic, and it's not one of their defining traits, just as not every Slytherin is cunning, and not every Hufflepuff is patient. No one person embodies all the traits of any house and, if they do, they can change and grow, just like any person would. Just something to keep in mind before you rule out every other house over one reason. ;)

So I can keep the personality, but I can make my character grow to be bolder and braver? Right know she's very shy and reserved, but she might find out that she has the courage and the will to truly belong in Gryffindor. Should I edit my sheet accordingly?

Of course, yup. ^^ Everyone grows and changes, even characters, so long as they get good development. Zariel could come out of her shell if she interacts with people, or she could stay shy and reserved if you feel that's who she is. <3 You don't have to change it if you don't want to, and the wait is never much longer than a week, but it's always something to consider.

If you do change it, then yeah, you'll just have to edit the 'which house and why' bit to show why you feel she'd work in Gryffindor as opposed to Ravenclaw.
