« on: 18 Feb 2011, 08:19 pm »
First and Last Name: Lucas McNair
Bloodline: Pureblood
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Green
General Build: Average
Height: Average
Birthplace: Newcastle upon Tyne

Brief Childhood History: Lucas was an only child, born and raised in Newcastle upon Tyne, (he doesn't have to include 'upon Tyne' but he thinks that just Newcastle isn't dramatic enough for a wizard). Before he received his letter from Hogwarts Lucas, at the insistence of his parents, attended the muggle school in Newcastle. He was frustrated by this and tended to avoid socializing with his less magically inclined classmates. He had a few friends, but he never saw them outside of school, not finding much interest in muggle entertainment. He found technical subjects like mathematics very easy to comprehend, but his lack of interest in his schoolwork resulted in lower grades in classes like english and art, where real effort and creativity was required.
When he was 8 years old Lucas fell down a flight of stairs and broke his leg. His mother underestimated the seriousness of the break and, instead of taking him to St. Mungos tried to fix it herself with a charm. While the charm did knit the two pieces of bone back together, it failed to realign them properly, leaving one leg shorter then the other. Lucas was fine, but he refused to allow the doctors at St. Mungos to try and reshape his leg, and so was left with a slight limp. He doesn't mind the limp, but the incident has left him with a distrust of magic in general, he recognizes that it can be useful, but does not feel like it is necessary, for the most part, he thinks that things should be done without magic whenever possible.
Lucas's mother didn't work; she stayed at home keeping the house in order and taking care of Lucas. She did a good job of both, and Lucas had a great deal of respect for her. (Respect, not love, real wizards don't love their mothers, it simply isn't dignified)
Lucas's father worked as an auror, he was quiet, and tough and he never let anyone know when he was in pain. He would sometimes come home complaining about this or that, he was never satisfied with anything anybody did, and his son was no exception. He would always quiz Lucas on things that he thought the boy "ought to know by his age".
When Lucas received his letter from Hogwarts he was excited to have the opportunity to learn about magic, to finally be able to answer the questions that his father put to him. But he was also, though he would never admit it, a bit worried, magic hadn't been able to fix his leg when he was 8, it hadn't worked on him. And just as the magic hadn't worked on him, he was sure that the magic wouldn't work for him either.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): After all the grilling he received from his father, Lucas is good at keeping his emotions under control and saying the right things. He is intelligent, enough to be considered smart, but not enough that he can just coast through classes. He likes to understand things; he is constantly analyzing the people around him, and can usually figure out their motivations. Lucas's exact mind and tendency to not second guess himself would allow him to excel at potions and, later on, at arithmancy.

Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Lucas is stubborn and just a bit arrogant, when he is right, he is right and nobody can convince him otherwise (or get him to admit it). He dislikes the use of magic in any situations where it is not important, and therefore would probably find difficulty participating actively in classes like transfiguration and charms.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Lucas would be a good fit for either Slytherin or Ravenclaw. He is arrogant and can be elitist if given enough reason. On the other hand, he is analytical and intelligent enough to excel in his courses. If he were given a choice he would probably choose Slytherin, he would view it as a place for those who are destined for greatness, and what better place for someone as intelligent as him, then a place for those who are better then all others?

Heya Lucas and welcome to HPRPG~

However, before we can sort you, there's a bit that needs to be addressed. First, a professional healer would more-than-likely never mess up something as simple as a broken leg. Maybe you could say his mother tried to heal it first and messed it up?

Also, can you give us a bit more about Lucas in his brief childhood history? Did he attend school, was he home schooled, did he hang out with friends, etc and so forth.

Once you've made the changes just change the title from 'pending' to 'edited'.
