Brief Childhood History:Haven's parents were likely sympathizers with the pure-blood movement. It is likely that they helped the early death eaters; but got cold feet as they realized there was a line between purity of blood and mass murder. Still, most of this was before his birth. Haven's parents live with him in a small but cozy flat; his mother, Margot, has artistic leanings, his father, Nate, is, simply put, a bit of a confidence man; it isn't impossible that he's worked as an informant, but that hasn't really occurred to little Haven. His Mother's parents dote on the little family; but his father was disowned at a young age. As a result, Haven grew up with an odd blend of entitlement versus resiliance and cleverness in his personality. Ever since he was young they'd go to the station every year to people watch the new students, and make a game of guessing what house they'd be in. Haven's learned that information can be more valuable than gold, and there are ways to influence people that don't involve magic.
He grew up as an only child in a crowded neighborhood. While he made a few muggle contacts, his parents were always quick to emphasize that muggles were very different from him, and he should never make the mistake of considering them friends. Allies, perhaps. Useful, at times. Friends, never. Haven still plays with his muggle "friends" when he can, a few in particular, but he's learned to lead something of a double life, keeping his mundane contacts as secret as possible from his wizarding friends. And, obviously, his real life, as a wizard, was always to be kept secret from them. ((Klaus Klempt gave me permission to say that the two had met before, as children, if you'd allow that, if he needs more contacts from before school?))
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): If he decides to be, he's quite loyal. He has a beginners grasp of psychology, and is frequently reading: books from the muggle world as well as the magical. He guesses that the first step to success is knowing how a person's mind works. He can be clever, and a bit manipulative; but he's willing to work with enemies so long as it suits his needs. He's fair at potions, and good at charms and history. He has a better grasp of Muggle studies than most Slytherin might approve of.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): While not entirely without conscience, Haven can tend to forget the little things when he has a goal in sight, and sometimes is more villainous than he meant to be. He is not above lying about or frightening off his muggle friends if it was politically necessary. He can take too long to take action; and believes that information is more valuable than brute force; so it's likely that he doesn't have much practical experience using his magic. While he isn't terribly awkward; he would likely lose a fist fight even to a younger student; he isn't strong. He would be average at athletics, but he finds them boring so he doesn't try. He is poor with plants and animals.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Slytherin.
Haven is somewhat ambitious; and more than willing to sacrifice both his own and other's personal happiness and well being to reach his goals. He enjoys prodding people to see what makes them tick without really considering the consequences.
