Brief Childhood History: Scott McQuellan and Sue Lancaster met during their years at Hogwarts, and were essentially what is clichely known as "childhood sweethearts." Both being a part of Slytherin house, and both being extremely inclined to each others' personalities, it's no wonder that they ended up married only a year after graduating Hogwarts. They moved to the island of Arran, Scotland to start a family two years after. Their first, and only, child, turned out to be Harmony herself.
As a child, Harmony proved to be an immense disappointment to Scott and Sue, who had expected a great aptitude for witchcraft by the time she turned four. Though they'd never admit it, not even Harmony's parents had been that talented so young. Perhaps their expectations were simply a little too high. Scott was slightly more upset by this, and by slightly, he was practically outraged. How could his daughter, the child of two Slytherins, be so behind every other magic child her age? He was sure that it had to do with Sue; she must not have been completely pure in blood. Sadly, he convinced himself of this, and in a fit of madness, left Sue with Harmony alone, to start a life with what he deemed a worthy wife.
Harmony grew as a rather happy child, despite this, though her mother was taking the separation hard. She could not believe that her love of fourteen years had gone and left her, for something as trivial as their daughter not being able to perform magic as a toddler. The logic baffled her, and along with the confusion came heartbreak. So much so, that she even found taking care of Harmony a challenge, though she wasn't very demanding. Harmony's favorite activities were reading (she loved when her mother read to her), and singing. For such a soft-spoken child, she could never stop singing. Her singing voice was stronger than her speaking voice. Sue, as deep in depression as she was, could even find solace in seeing her daughter do what she loved to do. It was therapeutic, and the next six or seven years were filled with many happy moments for the two.
As expected, Harmony started showing signs of magical ability at the average age, and magic soon became a bit of an obsession to a curious girl like her. She loved seeing all of the wonderful things it could do by watching her mother. She did all she could to look it up in books and find out how it worked (granted, it was purely a mystery). For someone who grew up around a magical mother, magic never failed to amaze Harmony, with every new thing she could do.
At eleven years old, Harmony received her Hogwarts letter, giddy with excitement at the thought of her, Harmony Lynn McQuellan, becoming a full-fledged witch. She would soon be as great as her mother. She would excel in ways she didn't even know she could.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Harmony is very quiet and studious. She is observant, and she often gets excited over the tiniest things. However, she tends to keep this excitement hidden from everyone except those closest to her. She has an excellent singing voice. Academically, Harmony is very well rounded, though she excels at Transfiguration more than anything else.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Harmony's shyness and introvertedness can also be a weakness, as well as a strength. It prevents her from reaching out to others, and she doesn't make friends easily. Once she opens up, surely she will be stronger socially. Harmony is not too great in Defense Against the Dark Arts; it simply doesn't interest her.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: I feel as if Harmony belongs in Ravenclaw. Although her blood says she should be Slytherin, since both of her parents are from said house, she doesn't have the Slytherin mentality. She's probably the farthest thing from it. But she still has that fascination about her; that ever-growing thirst for knowledge that simply cannot be quenched. There are always new things to learn, and that's what defines Harmony as a Ravenclaw.
