« on: 18 Feb 2010, 08:26 pm »
First and Last Name: Jacob Robert Kilburne
Bloodline: Pureblood
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Green
General Build: average
Height: A little tall for his age, but within average range

Birthplace: Chelsea, London UK
Brief Family History: Jake was born October 21st, the first and so far only son to Linda Kilburne. His mother was a young and carefree witch freshly out of Hogwarts, and the only piece of information she ever gave Jake about his father was that he worked for a firewisky manufacturer that outsourced him to northern England months before he was born (so he doesn't know about he has a son). Before Jake was old enough to wonder much about his father, Linda remarried, and by his fourth birthday he had a stepfather, David Bryant, owner of a Quidditch sporting goods store. Along with a new father came a new older brother, Connor, who is 7 years his senior.

Though Jake never had any real issues with his family, he also wasn't close with them. He occasionally spent time with his stepbrother when he was home in the summer/holidays, usually taking trips with him out to the country in order to play Quidditch with other witches and wizards living in the London area. Most of the kids Jake interacted with were older, but ever since he could reason, it was evident he had a natural charisma and didn't ever let himself be bossed around. However, he did learn how to be cooperative and how to work with others, even if he prefers to do most things by himself.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Perhaps Jake's greatest asset is that he is hard working and ambitious. If Jake wants something, he goes out and does whatever necessary to get it/achieve it. Due to this, he has learned how to deal with people in different situations. His charismatic personality allows him to get along with others if necessary and he is good at reading emotions. He is smart, has a quick wit, and knows how to get himself out of a bind rather quickly, either by talking himself out of it (as he’s learned to do with his mother and stepfather) or by problem solving. He learns from his mistakes and does whatever necessary not to make them again (although it's more of a weakness, see below). Also, despite his independent nature, Jake is willing to work with others and can play nice when he sees it’ll be beneficial to him in the end.

Though it is hard for him to trust, when someone proves themselves he can be very loyal. Jake can be easily approachable and has the ability to keep calm even in the worst of situations, making himself a (sometimes) enjoyable companion who is carefree and doesn’t require constant attention/catering to. Because Jake likes to see immediate results, he favors subjects that are practical and involve wandwork, such as Charms and Transfiguration.

Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): As stated before, Jake is very ambitious as well as charismatic, but he only uses his assets when they benefit him and him only. If he had a motto, it would be “the means justify the end.” He only chooses to work well with others when it is convenient, cares little about other people’s desires, and has no problem manipulating others to do his bidding. Jake does his best to get what he wants, and doesn’t care who he uses or hurts along the way. Most of the time, he doesn’t even do it on purpose. He simply believes that it is his right, as it is other people’s right, which is why he has problems trusting others in the first place. He is selfish, and though loyal to his friends, he does not forgive easily nor gives out second chances when betrayed. He isn’t exactly thoughtful either, and is quite stubborn, very rarely admitting when he is wrong. Instead, he always uses excuses and doesn’t care that his actions have consequences.

His step brother's rebellious tendency have had an impact on Jake’s own personality. His experiences have taught him that life is always sweeter if he doesn’t let too many things bother him, that it is rather fun to defy authority (both David and Linda are too busy with their respective jobs to bother him too much anyway) when it is sensible (it's not like he breaks the law, either), and that he can’t really trust anyone but himself. Since Connor was never around due to school, Jake is treated almost like an only child and is used to getting things his way. He is vain and confident in his abilities, lacking the humility that allows people to learn from their mistakes. The only mistakes he chooses to learn from are the ones that impede him from getting what he wants. Again, as stated above, since he only ever uses knowledge or people for his benefit, Jake doesn't care much about subjects that are of no immediate use to him. This include, but are not limited to, Divination, Astronomy, Muggle Studies and sometimes (not always) History of Magic.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Jake's ambition and quick wit, combined with his resourcefulness and leadership abilities make Slytherin the perfect house for him. These traits, along with his achievement-oriented personality and developed sense of self-preservation not only make him a true Slytherin, but also contradict with the values of other houses. He truly doesn’t belong anywhere else.
