Abigail O'Connell - Approved [S]
« on: 06 Nov 2009, 09:45 pm »
First and Last Name: Abigail O'Connell

-----------------------------

Bloodline:  Half
Hair Color:  Dark Brown
Eye Color:  Grey
General Build:  Average
Height: Shorter than most her age, but not by much

-----------------------------

Birthplace: Northern Ireland
Brief Family History: Shortly after Abigail turned five, the O'Connell family moved to Lancaster so that her mother could be with Abigail's maternal grandparents when her grandfather fell ill. They stayed after he died to assist the grandmother with strenuous tasks in daily living. Abigail remembers Ireland fondly and often spends summers there staying with friends.
Both her parents are magical-- her father a pureblood-- but her mother is muggle-born, which qualifies her for half-blood status. She has a brother, Aidan, who is five years younger than her, and the two get along relatively well. Her parents call her Abby, but it's only family she let's do that; she's Gail for anyone else.
Abigail attended catholic schools most of her life. Her primary school almost held her back in kindergarten for being "overbearing on others" by "imposing her way" and having "poor relationship skills", even though she was one of the smartest children there. Basically, she was being Gail, bossy yet intelligent . However, most of the kids didn't mind or think of her that way, they even said that Gail made playtime and learning more fun, these sentiments probably being the only reason she got by.
She has both muggle and magical friends, from recent years and from when she was little. Gail could, and can, get along with most anyone, it's just wether she really wanted, or wants, to or not. Most of the friends that Gail stays with when she visits Ireland are magical. The parents of those friends know of the quick and easy methods of travelling with magic, usually the ones that bring her to their house, and can approve of Gail travelling without her parents, unlike most of the muggles she knows.
Gail, her parents, and her brother live in a neighbourhood of predominately muggles, due to the fact her mother is a muggle-born, and they moved there to help Gail's grandmother. There is a wizarding neighbourhood, not too far from where she lives, that she likes to walk to.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Gail is very independent, and often goes off to do things that she wants to regardless of whether she has any support. When her parents were unable to come, she was more than happy to do all of her shopping for Hogwarts on her own. She gets things done on time and does what she sets out to do. She loves joking around and has a brilliant sense of humor that often shines through her more common serious side. She's got a weakness for little kids and welcomes passive people who willingly let her lead.
In school, Gail does best in classes that one can study and prepare for, such as History of Magic and Potions. She completes her homework thoroughly and quickly so that she can move on the next item on her agenda. She keeps detailed notes in classes and strives to make good grades.
One of the strongest aspects of her personality is her sense of organization and being on a schedule. She's great at planning out what she wants to happen and then ensuring that it will happen.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Gail is willing to lead. Too willing, some would say. She's been called bossy on more than one occasion, and it's quite true. She often orders others around without realizing that they don't have to listen to her. She's  quite determined, but while that's usually considered a good trait, with her sometimes crosses the line into stubbornness. She never admits she's wrong to those who accuse her of it, and never backs down out of a fight, no matter how much trouble she may get in later. She disregards rules, considering them mere guidelines and that she knows what she's supposed to do well enough that she can bend them without causing disaster. It often does cause disaster, however. Despite her great sense of humor, she can become mean and taunting without realizing it, making enemies without quite knowing why.
She often performs poorly in classes such as Transfiguration or Herbology, where there is very little that one can do to prepare for that day's lesson. She's not as comfortable with practical applications of magic and other knowledge as she is with learning theory, as she knows that she can ace any question on theory, but might be beaten in its application.
Some people view her as controlling, and she is. She gets stressed when things don't go the way she thought they would, and may lash out at what she sees as the cause in an attempt to get it back on track.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Gail works towards her goals constantly; a Hufflepuff trait.
She appreciates school and the knowledge it gives her, and makes a noticeable effort in her classes, which leans her towards Ravenclaw.
She's quite brave and tries not to show fear. She will continue to stand and be defiant in the face of danger, even if that danger is  simply getting in trouble. These are traits that Gryffindors pride themselves on.
However, the house I feel she most belongs in is Slytherin. She is motivated by her desire to do well and be the best; she lets nothing stand in her way (except maybe little children). She's intelligent, and uses her intelligence to better herself and improve others' opinions of her. She considers herself a leader  and would make quite a good one in a few years.

Hi and welcome to HPRPG! :)

Before we sort you, could you please check your PMs aaaaand add a bit more about Gail's life before Hogwarts in the brief family history section? Did she attend any schools or get any education of any type? Are her friends that you mentioned muggle or magical? What type of place does she live in in Lancaster? -- Just whatever little details you can think of that will help us get to know her better.  :biglove:

After you've done those two things, if you'll please change your thread title from 'Pending' to 'Edited' and reply here, we'll move right along with the sorting process!  Welcome again!

Is that enough or do I need more?

Sorry it took so long, I kept getting distracted, I was trying to help my cousin with her homework  :sweatdrop:
