Brief Childhood History:
When Addie was two years old, her dad decided to bail. He was a complicated person, and his relationship with Addie's mum had always been shaky at best. He never contacted them again, and never even told his muggle girlfriend he was a wizard. With the father out of the picture, Addie's mother decided to move from Swansea back to Newcastle, where she was originally from. This became the first of many moves that Addie has made throughout her life, as her mother, being prone to depression and having little skills and education, was unable to hold down a job. Addie went to muggle schools, but was always the "new girl" throughout her primary school years.
The last year before the letter from Hogwarts arrived, things had gotten a little better. They were living in London, where Addie's mum had managed to keep up with several cleaning jobs and regular therapy sessions, that had brought her out of her bouts of depression. There wasn't much money to spare, but they were content. However, upon receiving the letter, Addie was quite relieved. She had not been looking forward to continuing school with her muggle classmates, as the plump girl whose mother washed the school loos was beginning to attract bullies. The friends she had in her last school were few, and she knew nobody well enough that she'd really miss them.
She had never expressed her magic very strongly, and any "strange occurrences" of uncontrolled magic she might have been responsible for were easily forgotten afterwards. When she was first introduced to the magical world, she was determined not to accept any help from her father, whom she blames for her mother's unhappiness throughout her childhood. It is not particularly difficult avoiding him, as he does not want anything to do with her, either. She has no plans of trying to contact her paternal family, and her mother supports her in that decision.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
Addie is a very friendly person, who will try to bond with as good as anyone. She hates arguing and rarely gets angry. It's really difficult to earn her true dislike, and she is quite open minded. She is also very cheerful and "bubbly", and usually manages to keep her spirits up no matter what the situation. She is excitable and good at making the excitement contagious, and if she is in a good mood - which she usually is - she is likely to cheer up people who aren't. She is very emotionally strong. Herbology will be her strongest subject, as she is very fond of nature. She excels more at practical and creative subjects than at those requiring systematical thought and memorization - In muggle school, she was often praised in arts and crafts, and also did fairly well in language subjects.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
In her attempts at being nice, Addie will often cave and do what others tell her to do - she doesn't stand up for herself a lot. And though she finds it hard to dislike people, she can easily find herself disliked because her perpetual cheer can be rather irritating. She easily makes friends, but she had problems connecting with people on a deeper level, and she can be seen as rather superficial. She is not very good at reading people, and she is quite childish for an eleven year old. She is also not the brightest of girls, and easily gets impatient with repetitive or demanding theoretical tasks. She hated maths in muggle school, and will probably have some trouble with subjects like potion and transfiguration.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:
Hufflepuff, probably, as she is a kind, hard-working person, and she lacks the specific skills and self-importance of the other houses. She definitely does not belong in Ravenclaw or Slytherin, being neither cunning nor brilliant, and she is a bit too submissive for Gryffindor.
