Brief Childhood History: Jake was brought up in an ordinary muggle home, with no knowledge at all of the wizarding world that would later await him. Though he had no idea and never really noticed, his parents had noticed from a very young age that strange things seemed to happen around him. Things that seemed unexplainable. Though they had no idea what it was, they just knew that there was something special about him. This, mixed with the fact that he was very immature for his age and didn't do so well when he started school, caused them to homeschool him.
Jake's lack of any real social interaction as he grew up, caused him to grow up extremely shy. He doesn't really know how to interact with other kids his age, and is very nervous around them. He is different than most "average" 11 year old boys. He always has been a very sensitive child and instead of playing sports he enjoyed to play with his imagination, or draw. He doesn't have the tendency that a good amount of boys his age do to make fun of others. He has always been very sweet and kind. He is very small for his age, and not just physically. While he is smart, and is able to very well academically, ahead of most boys his age, you would not know it just from talking to him. He is very child-like and emotionally immature for his age, still liable to cry more often than other kids, and is very fearful.
It wasn't until July, the month before his 11th birthday (which fell on August 30th) when he received a mysterious letter in the mail. His father read it first and was ready to write it off as a prank, but his mother had a feeling it was more than a joke. It took a while for Jake himself to believe where he would be attending school in the fall, and though he is nervous and scared, the appeal of being able to do magic, something he had only dreamed of, was irresistable.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Jake's strengths can also be his biggest weaknesses. He is young for his age, and very sheltered. This does lead however, to him being extremely innocent, pure of heart, and kind. He is honest and extremely non-judgmental. While he will not form friends easily, the friends he does form will be like family to him, and he will be intensely loyal to anybody close to him. He has a natural curiosity about the world, ESPECIALLY the wizarding world, though he has a lack of experience, and so he will do best at subjects such as Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology that are fascinating to him, yet don't rely on magical ability. He will also be able to do pretty well at Potions as it does not involve actual spell-casting.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Though Jake does have strong aspects of his character due to his sheltered background and the fact that he is pretty young for his age, it leads to most of his weaknesses. He is extremely fearful. Things such as the dark still scare him, and more crippling is his fear of other kids. He has never really mingled with them very much before, especially not as many as he will be at Hogwarts. As a result he is deathly shy and quiet until he gets to know somebody. He is also more emotionally immature, being too sensitive compared to other boys his age and more liable to cry where most of the other kids have grown out of it. His lack of experience with magic as well as his own fear of failing stopping him from reaching his full potential will make him weaker at more practical magics such as Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Charms he will be a bit more succesful in because of the less intense nature of its magic, but still struggle greatly
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Jake seems a natural Hufflepuff, being that he is fiercely loyal and pure-hearted, lacking the bravery needed for Gryffindor, too innocent for Slytherin, and perhaps not esoteric enough for Ravenclaw (though it is the next closest fit.)
