Brief Childhood History: Melody was born to a witch, Sonya Marwick nee Goshawk, and a wizard, Xavier Marwick. But she really wasn’t that pure of a pureblood. Her father’s parents were Muggles, as was his sister. So she grew up with one foot in the magical world and the other foot in the Muggle world, as she spent many holidays with her Muggle relations. She had a cousin eight months older than her named Jackie and they spent many happy days together playing near the ocean by her aunt’s house.
She didn’t have a lot of magical friends, through no fault of her own. Both her parents had jobs that required them to be away from home for most of the day – her mother worked on the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad and her father was always on call to tend animals as a magizoologist. Her parents sent her to a Muggle school because her father had gone to one, and when she wasn’t in Muggle school she was playing with Muggle children from her neighborhood. She had a few particular friends among them, like Shannon and Samantha the twins. But she generally was willing to play with anyone who would play with her.
When her parents were home in the evenings, they did most things by magic. Her father read the Daily Prophet – and complained about what he read – while her mother cooked spaghetti with some waves of her wand. There were many magical artifacts stowed everywhere in their home – like the racing brooms disguised as regular brooms in the closet. As such, Melody was perfectly comfortable around magic. So when she accidentally made a game of hopscotch cycle through the colors of the rainbow, she ran home at once to get her mum, knowing she could fix it.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
Melody is a very outgoing and friendly person. She loves making new friends and will often treat a person as a friend before she’s even known them for an hour. This means that she is bold, since a shy person couldn’t do that quite so easily. She is also the one to go to if you want a spider squished or a snake gotten rid of, since even if she is scared, she’ll pretend not to be. She is an energetic little urchin and needs something to do at all times or else she’ll make up something to do that might not necessarily be something she should be doing. As such, her best classes are Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, since she can at least wave her wand around and hope for results.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
She tends to think of herself more than others. For example, when she wants to play a game, she just says “Let’s play a game!” and doesn’t pause to think if the other person would like to play. She can also be oblivious to people’s negative reactions towards her, especially if they’re being subtle or sarcastic about it. That’s not to say that she’s cold or uncaring. It just means she doesn’t really pay much attention to notice. This inability to focus on others means that she has a particularly difficult time in History of Magic. When she is extremely excited, she can go off on tangents and not stop to let anyone else talk. When upset, she tends to lash out at whoever happens to be nearby, which includes yelling and, when really angry, punching and kicking. She can be impatient and unable to sit still for long periods of time without something to focus on, which means Astronomy is also hard for her since one has to be patient and focused to find constellations.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Gryffindor, because she is bold and tends to be the one who steps forward first. She’s the one who would jump at the chance to fight a monster, even if she couldn't actually hurt it.
