{birthplace} Ottery St. Catchpole; a small town along the River Otter in Devon, England.

{brief family history} On the night of December 20th, a healthy, baby boy was born to two proud, non-magical parents.  It was a joyous moment for the two muggles, who had spent so long debating as to whether or not they were prepared to support a child - especially considering that they were financially unstable. Adriel had always been a very wild and untamable little boy, while growing up. Despite his portly build, he was just as physically active as any other child his age. And yet, he had quite an appetite to be very proud of; other children would nickname him the ‘Treacle Tart Troll’ and ‘Bottomless Belly’  because of his unusual fondness for eating. It was never easy for the youth, who not only had to grow up with constant teasing about his weight, but also with other boys and girls who did not understand what it was like, being a wizard. But one day, Adriel received a letter of acceptance from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; and Adriel's parents had no doubt that enrolling their son there might just have been one of the wisest decisions they could have ever made for him. But before Adriel would board the Hogwarts Express, his father would present him with a gift; it was a rather shabby-looking, black watch, frayed and tarnished in many places. It was his father’s favorite watch, which he had kept for as long as he could remember. And as he gave it to his son, he said something to the boy that he would not easily put out of his mind: “…Never forget where you came from, Adriel.” Surely, he was referring to Adriel’s ties to the muggle world; and it was important to him – to his family – that his son did not forget the world that would always be his true home.

{strengths} Once he feels comfortable, Adriel can be a very outgoing young boy. He could be considered smart, when he actually applies himself well enough. He is very caring by nature, and will do all that he can to make a friend smile – which isn’t very difficult for him, considering he does flaunt very comical mannerisms. Academically, Adriel excels primarily in Herbology. He loves interacting with different plants, herbs, and fungi, and looks forward to each lesson.

{weaknesses} Adriel, unfortunately, is not the ‘studying’ type…in fact, the very idea of studying tends to give him a stomach ache. While applying himself certainly brings out to his potential, the problem is that he never wants to apply himself. He is more laidback when it comes to schoolwork, save for anticipating each Herbology lesson; but aside from that, schoolwork is an obstacle that he faces daily. Perhaps someday, the boy will adapt to a new and better perspective that will enable him to work harder in school…but it is certainly no guarantee. Academically, Adriel tends to struggle with Transfiguration – which is, quite possibly, one of the most difficult subjects offered at Hogwarts. It is simply too complex for him – and not to mention, it requires the most outside studying in his opinion.

{what house you feel your character belongs in and why} Adriel belongs solely in Hufflepuff House. He is very strong-headed and stubborn at times, but this truth works to his advantage, as well as his disadvantage. He is very dependable and trustworthy, capable of keeping his word no matter what the circumstances may be. He may not be the brightest student academically, but he certainly strives to work hard in other aspects – and it is this indomitable mentality that makes him perfect for Hufflepuff House.
