Brief Childhood History: Riley Blare was born in the suburbs of London to aspiring artist Andy Blare and college professor Karen Green. She was home-schooled by Andy from 1st grade on, and had actually skipped two years by the time she was accepted into Hogwarts. Her parents fostered a love of learning and stories in her from a young age, and she always felt herself drawn towards those of a more fantastical nature. At about eight she began writing her own stories, and shortly after creative writing was included in her curriculum. Her parents are fascinated by the wizarding world, and quite excited that their daughter is a witch. They will be insisting she keep up on her regular schoolwork as well, to keep her mind sharp and options post-Hogwarts open.
Riley was always an odd child. Often times she can be found crouched under, perched on, or squished in the strangest places with a pen and paper or the latest novel in a favorite series. Due to her strange habits, odd manner of speaking, and relative seclusion, she only ever made one friend growing up, a girl that lives on her street by the name of Alice Freeman. It took a while for them to warm up to each other, but once they did they were inseparable. They have always shared everything, secrets, clothes, ice cream every Sunday. The only downside to going to Hogwarts is that she’ll have to leave Alice behind. Of course they’ll owl, but it won’t be quite the same.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Riley’s biggest strengths are her high intelligence and creativity. She’s a fast reader, quick thinker, and has a sharp mind. While she’s very slow to give her loyalty, once gained she will stand with you to the death. Academically her biggest gift is in Transfiguration, and is also pretty handy with charms and astronomy.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Riley doesn’t work well with others. She finds other people hard to understand, and gets easily frustrated and short if someone isn’t on her level mentally. She’ll have a hard time adjusting to the structure of her Hogwarts classes due her previous very free education. She struggles more in History of Magic and Herbology, and is absolutely abysmal at Potions.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Very much a Ravenclaw. She has a thirst for knowledge and a strong love for learning. Most of her time is spent in the company of books rather than people as well.
