Alcira Vogel. - Approved [G]
« on: 22 Nov 2011, 05:06 pm »
First and Last Name: Alcira 'Ally' Gertrude Vogel.

Bloodline: Muggle-born.
Hair Color: White-blonde.
Eye Color: Gray-blue.
General Build: Petite.
Height: Average.

Birthplace: Crawley, West Sussex, England. Her family moved to Worthing, West Sussex after she began Hogwarts.
Brief Childhood History: Alcira's parents, Ulfer and Herlinda Vogel, were the sort of people who you wouldn't be particularly pleased to meet. Ulfer, a priest, spent many of his days at St. Anthony's and left Herlinda to entertain herself. He didn't want her to work, but she hated to waste her days doing nonsense around the house, alone, and took it upon herself to get a job. She was hired at Three Bridges Junior School and worked the front desk as a sort of secretary where she met the man who would become her closest, life-long friend, Nicolae Petri. Her time at Three Bridges convinced her that, despite agreeing with Ulfer that they wouldn't have children, she wanted one! So they tried, hoping for a boy, and a year later Alcira's older sister, Katrice, was born.

They were disappointed initially until they heard Katrice laugh and, spending the next five years coddling and spoiling her, decided to try for a boy once more. However, just as before, they were bestowed with another girl: Alcira. While Herlinda, who had grown to love her first baby girl, was exstatic to have another, Ulfer grew slightly more restless and strict. Naturally, he had always been somewhat strict in most matters, being raised in a fairly conservative home, and took it out on his girls with the hope that they'd go on to be woman of the church.

So Katrice and Alcira were raised under the same sort of roof as their father, rarely allowed to participate in social events, never allowed to school dances, and only allowed to friend's birthday parties so long as there wouldn't be any boys present. In fact, if there was even the chance of boys being present at any event Ulfer allowed his girls to attend they were immediately unallowed. They weren't let out of the house after school until all of their homework and chores were complete and, even then, had to be back before seven. Despite this, neither of the girls grew to resent their father, and actually both preferred the safety of their parent's strict guidelines. It might've been a slightly warped sense of being, being so sheltered, but they put it to good use and (though rarely getting caught) sometimes worked together to break the rules. It was rare, mind, but it happened.

And then a few years prior to Alcira getting her surprise letter to Hogwarts their parents allowed Katrice to start a sort of mini-babysitting gig in their home to watch over the neighborhood girls. During this, Alcira became incredibly close to one of her mother's best friend's daughters, Antanasia, who she attended school with and they connected pretty quickly. It didn't hurt that they both had received letters to Hogwarts a few years later on their respective birthdays (Alcira on May 12th) and were going to attend it together. Alcira was initially a bit hesitant about it, especially after Ulfer had nearly had a heart-attack at hearing that his daughter was a witch, and her sister clearly resented Ally's sudden escape and freedom, but she eventually accepted the change in her life with open arms.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Alcira was raised in a fairly strict home and, therefore, is very good at listening to authority and following rules. She isn't typically your 'rebel' type, despite being so sheltered, and accepted her parent's way of raising her; that isn't to suggest that she's never gotten in trouble. She and her sister spent a lot of their time working together to avoid their parent's ever-watchful gaze, helping one another out of trouble, and covering the other's trail-- thus, Ally knows how to get out of most binds and scrapes unscathed. However, despite the urge to sometimes break the rules, Ally is generally something of a 'goody-two-shoes' and will never start trouble or be rude and mean to someone to their face. Everything she does wrong she is quick to have a cover for and generally always ready with a lie on hand. Academically, she'll do well in classes like Defense Against the Dark Arts and Herbology, then ideally Healing.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Although being listed as a strength, Ally's 'goody-two-shoes' manner may also be a weakness. While she enjoys having fun, she's quite the cautious kid, and holds back a lot of the time due to how she was raised. Outwardly, while she's seemingly quite passive (despite there being a fire inside, urging her to stop holding back), she's quick to pass the blame as she hates the idea of being called out or brought to attention for something negative. Failing or getting into trouble will sometimes make her physically sick as she expects everything she does wrong to get back to her father and disappoint him. Yet, she is generally ignorant to her own flaws (and how her sheltered life is not necessarily a good thing) and how her parent's overbearing personalities at home may've had a negative impact on her life. Her academic weaknesses will probably be Potions, History of Magic, and Ancient Runes when the time comes for it.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Gryffindor. Alcira isn't your typical Gryffindor yet. She's not brave unless with friends and she's not impulsive unless the situation calls for it. With her father being a priest, though, that may be what's been holding her back; but under her careful, rule-abiding exterior is a fire-cracker waiting to be set free! I think being sorted in Gryffindor and being given time to grow will be very beneficial to her in the long run. I'm fine with the waiting list, of course.

I will pretend that I don’t know of your sins until you are ready to confess.
