Brief Family History: Little Ivy came into the world screaming and ready to put up a fight. It was a good thing, considering that she was joining three older brothers. While her family is extremely traditional, most of them are also artists, which lends an unusual complication to the Liang's daily life. Listening to her grandmother scream in Chinese at her grandfather over tea, her mother leaving her paintbrushes in the silver drawer, and her brothers saying ridiculously dull things is part of every day life in the Liang household.
Ivy's grandparents immigrated to England and started an antique dealership, specializing in rare magical oddities, beauties, and antiquities. Although, they did trade in muggle artifacts as well, common place things like furniture and art. The family business headquartered in Bath, which was where the Liang's son, Benjamin, grew up. He met an expert in painting restoration, Melinda Chen. It took Benjamin's parents awhile to get used to the idea of their son marrying outside their expectations (a muggle), but they begrudgingly accepted his choice. The couple moved to Bath and joined the family business.
Ivy grew up in a world of dusty and beautiful things, dainty paintbrush strokes, and aggravating older brothers. While her grandmother wanted to braid her hair and her mother wanted to show her how to paint, Ivy wanted to beat on broken cars with sticks. Her older brothers – Tobias, Edward, and Porter – were already at Hogwarts, being much older than Ivy. While they enjoyed teasing their much younger sister, as soon as Ivy could talk, she was winning arguments and charming them out of their share of desserts. Ivy liked to win, it made everything more fun.
By the time it was her turn to go to Hogwarts, her brothers had already graduated into a safe ministry job, the family business, or being a full time artist. The entire lot Hufflepuffs! Ivy, however, wants a bit more for herself than the usually boredom of...whatever it was her brothers were doing. Of course, when she's at Hogwarts, she'll do ever so much better than her brothers because she considers herself cleverer than pretty much everybody else.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): For an eleven year old, very strategic. Ivy is good at planning things, even if they don't always work out the way she wants them too. A wicked sense of humor, even if she doesn't always use it properly. She's good at puzzles and is looking forward to being older and able to take classes like Ancient Runes. Second to that would be digging around in the dirt and making things grow because that's just plain, good fun!
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Extremely sarcastic with a hearty helping of dry wit on the side. Ivy cannot resist making fun of someone or pointing out the obvious. She doesn't mean to cause permanent harm, but sometimes people do or say silly things and therefore don't they deserve a little embarrassment? Ivy suffers from being the baby of the family and is a bit spoiled and feels a little superior than everyone else. Astronomy would be her least favorite class, because honestly, the stars? Boring and pointless.
