The Sorting Hat (aka Character Sheets) / Marian Dolcy - Approved [S]
« Last post by Marian Dolcy on 17 Feb 2012, 03:43 am »
First and Last Name: Marian Dolcy

Bloodline: Pureblood
Hair Colour: Her vibrant ginger hair that ends a few inches below her shoulders. It is very thick and made up of loose curls.
Eye Colour: Green
General Build: Average
Height: Tall

Birthplace: Bournemouth, England

Brief Childhood History: Clarisse was born in a long line of purebloods, but while she did well at Beauxbatons Academy she was never really interested in magic. Once she graduated from the academy, Clarisse decided to visit the muggle world as muggle studies had intrigued her. It was as she was visiting Paris she was talent spotted, a model agent wanting her to audition or a part in their modelling agency. Out of curiosity she did and soon fell in love with both the muggle world and the modelling industry. She became famous rather quickly and when she told her parents she wanted to leave the wizarding world they were disappointed, but as they already had two sons, did not mind that much. In a few years Clarisse began to part take in plays as well as modelling.

During one of these plays she met Martin, an up and coming business man visiting Paris. They had a few dates before he left and kept in contact. Soon afterwards they formed a steady relationship, Clarisse even moving to England to live with him. When she was twenty six they married. In spite of loving him dearly Clarisse never told him of her magic because of his strong religious beliefs and because she has long since abandoned them.

Unknown to Martin, just after they married Clarisse began having second thoughts. By coincidence she met Elroy Prideaux during a fashion show in London, an old flame from Beauxbatons who was studying the styles of muggle fashion. While she had only just been married Clarisse had begun to feel that she married too young, and began wondering if she has gone and trapped herself. From her these thoughts on her marriage an affair bloomed between them, but only lasted a month. She realised in that month that she had not made a mistake and that she did love Martin so stopped seeing Elroy.

Nine months later Marian was born. She was raised like a proper lady, and after insistence from Clarisse she was given private tutors instead of going to school. She did not want her husband to find out that their daughter most likely had magic as she had kept the secret for so long she did not know how he would react. As their child grew Clarisse made sure she knew how to speak French, and most of her conversations with Marian were in French rather than English. Martin made sure that she was taught how to be sophisticated and proper, because while he did love her, he wanted her to marry to gain alliances with other businesses when she was older. Clarisse however was not fond of that idea, instead she taught her about modelling and acting, rather having her follows her footsteps than be married of.

This upbringing caused Marian to be secluded form others her age. She spent most of her time with tutors, studying, with nannies, actors, models, businesses people and her mother. So while she knew how to be the perfect lady she was rather socially inept. At around the age of nine her perfect daughter and perfect lady act began to fade, she became rather frank and rude with her nannies and any other children she did meet, but never let the image slip in front of her parents or the public. It was also at the age of nine that her magic began to appear.

At first the magic was hardly noticeable, a few objects disappearing and ending up somewhere else, but Clarisse noticed straight away. She had brought her daughter up on stories about magic, witches and wizards, hoping that it would ease the transition when she developed her magic. Marian’s reaction however was not what she expected. She took the news with a noticeable calmness, seemingly not caring about it at all. A bit unnerved with her daughters’ reaction and worried about the growing noticeability of the magic Clarisse made it so that Marian was rarely with her father or out in the public alone, making sure she was always by her side. She also made her promise not to tell Martin about the magic. This time Marian reacted differently. Clarisse knew her daughter hated lying and was not very good at keeping secrets, and it was obvious she was hiding something whenever she was around her father. When his suspicions grew Clarisse kept Marian away from him, only really letting them be together during meal times and never let Marian talk during those times.

It was in these two years that she began to find an interest in magic, but not her own. She asked her mother to tell stories of her past life in the wizarding world, learning about Beauxbatons Academy, her pureblood family and the many types of magic. Marian fell in love with the stories of Beauxbatons Academy, and was rather disappointed when she found out she was going to go to Hogwarts, Clarisse knowing that she would automatically go to Hogwarts and secretly quite glad that she would not be too far away from her daughter. Her love for the academy was short lived however, as during one of these stories Clarisse accidently let slip her affair with Elroy. It was because of that and the fact that she too was keeping a secret and lying to her father that Marian began truly hating lying and secrets, changing her policy of honesty to never lie no matter the situation.

It was also after Clarisse’s secret revealing itself that Marian began to realise the gap in her and her father’s relationship, as before she had filled it easily with her mother and thoughts of magic. She tried to rebuild their bond, but found that she never knew what to say to him and found it hard to face him when keeping both her and her mother’s secrets. Martin also began to notice the distance between him and his daughter, but could never do much about it with being so busy with his work and with Clarisse’s intervening to keep them apart and the secret safe.

When the letter finally arrived inviting her to join Hogwarts Marian had still not told her father about her magic, Hogwarts or of Clarisse’s affair, not wanting to hurt him even though she had made a promise to never lie again. By the time of September Clarisse had told Martin that she was going to a prestigious boarding school. She bought all of Marians supplies and took her Marian to Platform 9 ¾ by herself. By this time their close relationship had disintegrated and Marian blamed her for her almost non-existent relationship with her father. Despite no longer liking her mother she found herself still rather proud of the pureblood background she had on her mother’s side.

Strengths (At least three, including Personality and Academic): Marian is a confident and intelligent young girl. From almost as soon as she could walk and talk she was taught how to be a sophisticated young lady and was given the best education from private tutors. She was also taught how to perform on stage and be a model. While being prim and proper Marian is also meticulously neat and always honest. With subjects that interest her Marian is very dedicated and driven. Marian always carries an air of elegance with her, and can have the charming personality to go with it if she feels the need. She likes and admires those who always seem to be happy and make friends easily, a small part of her wishing she could be like them but the rest of her not really caring. Once a person does gain Marians friendship she is fiercely loyal and will put their wellbeing above everything, and depending on the level of friendship, maybe even above her own needs. Marian is also honest, but this can also be a bad thing. Because of her tutors she is rather intelligent, and she loves writers like Shakespeare and is well versed in the topic of Shakespeare and other historical play writes.

Classes she would be good in would be muggle studies, potions, charms and astronomy.

Weaknesses (At least three, including Personality and Academic): Marian’s upbringing has caused her to become self-assured and self-centred, as well as giving her little experience with socialisation with others of her age. With subjects she is not interested in she becomes very lethargic and her efforts are half hearted. When she does not feel the need to be charming she becomes frank and haughty with those around her, or just blanks them completely. She is not very athletic, hating hard work or getting sweaty, and will use her analytical mind and eloquent words to get her out of such work. Shy people and those with low self-esteem annoy Marian, especially if they are actually rather pretty and she finds their behaviour pathetic. While she does not purposely make people intimidated by her they often find her frank attitude yet elegant air around her of putting and avoid her, which only adds to her awkward social skills with those her age. Marian is also terrified of the dark and the things that lurk in it. With her very honest attitude she can be very blunt, rude and frank. She is not good at keeping secrets unless it is asked by a very close friend. She is very stubborn, selfish, vain, and will always put her own needs and gain above everything and everyone else.

Subjects which she would be bad at are Transfiguration, Defence against the Dark Arts, Care for Magical Creatures and Divination.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs in and Why: I think Marian would be best suited to Slytherin because she both a pure blood and can be very cunning and resourceful with her words. While she is intelligent I do not think Marian has the thirst for knowledge that those in Ravenclaw have.

First and Last Name: Arianna Hildegard.

Bloodline: Half blood – but before she finds out, it shall remain unknown since she’s an orphan.
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Green
General Build: Petite
Height: Short

Birthplace: Unknown due to the fact that she’s an orphan – but the location of orphanage is in Wiltshire, England.
Brief Childhood History:
Arianna Hildegard’s loud cry was the first noise on that fateful morning when she was discovered on the porch of Combe Orphanage, wrapped up in a tight bundle with a letter clutched in her small, fragile arm. No one peeked their nosy little noses out from their windows in surprise, because that was a common morning scenario around the orphanage – Arianna was nothing different from the twenty other kids she was going to live with. Whoever abandoned her showed no signs of wanting the child back, leaving her with only a letter explaining the situation and a locket that held nothing but a picture of the baby herself. Young little Arianna was taken in without hesitation as the newest addition to the house, and there began her childhood.

Young Arianna was nothing but a normal child, except being rather strange in her interests. The little trickster seemed to be drawn towards rather mean-spirited, dangerous pranks and often played it on the other kids for mere fun. It looked as if her signs of magic surfaced rather early, because they couldn’t quite tell how she executed some of her pranks without help from adults. After giving up on wondering how did the six year old Arianna managed to set her little traps on the highest shelf, they resorted to punishing her in hope of stopping her mean pranks. Her dangerous humor was finally put to an end a year later on the night of Halloween, when a younger kid was almost severely harmed by Arianna’s scary little experiment with fire. No one got hurt from the incident, but it was too close. Shocked and startled by the alarming behavior of the seven year old, they attempted to ‘force it out’ of her with ultimately harsh method of punishment. Young Arianna was locked up in the basement and not to be let out unless she ‘admitted her mistakes and promised to never do it again’.

That did it. The next morning Arianna surrendered, apologized in remorse and made a convincing promise to never repeat her mistakes again. Arianna learned a lesson - what she was inside was not something socially acceptable, and if she was to survive in this unfair world where the human standards were not tolerant of her nature, she would have to change. But stubborn little Arianna was not capable of changes. Frankly, she did not see a reason to correct her actions. Life would be easier - if she wanted to get out of that dark horrible space she was locked up in, she would have to act. Like all kids who tried to lie and get away with their wrongdoings, she chose to lie - and like the very few who had gotten away with it, so did she.

The forgiven child from then was never the same – her rebellious behaviors and mean pranks vanished as if they never happened. Except for the poor kid who was almost scarred for life, everyone was happy to accept her new behavior as genuine remorse and invent new interpretation for her past incidents, clarifying it as unfortunate ideas of fun of a child who had yet to learn about boundaries. Arianna seemed to have adopted a different demeanor in the later years of her childhood since then, quickly becoming the most popular child among the children of orphanage, and according to the adults, Arianna Hildegard was easily the most charming child out of the bunch. Little did they know about her darker nature that was still lingering under the fabricated mask of Arianna – for all they knew, her old, alarming ways were officially forgiven and forgotten.

Upon receiving the letter from Hogwarts, Arianna was half surprised – she had known there was something different about her strange self, but she didn’t know there was hundreds and thousands of others who were the same inhabiting the seemingly ordinary world they live in. Leaving her history behind, she marched off to the magical world in thrill to learn about her own kind – where she truly belonged.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Arianna Hildegard was possibly one of the most socially tactful eleven year old you would come across. In general, she was a very charming person when she needed to be – discreet and sympathetic, the young child learned well enough to know how to put people on ease and hence always coming off as an appealing individual. Having to learn to mask her truest feelings and intentions at young age, Arianna was capable of carrying out various misleading acts in order to achieve her ends, making her manipulative in nature. As an ambitious individual, she was quick in achieving her goals, driven by her maniacally strong desire to attain everything she wanted, and she usually did it alone – independence was something she had adopted after growing up in the orphanage, and the young child lived by the quote of ‘survival of the fittest’ like no one else. Given that she was usually drawn towards the dangerous nature of things, she would do well in Defense against Dark Arts. And with her tremendous amount of patience, she would be a decent potion brewer as well.

Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Her attraction towards dangerous and darker activities was bound to get her into troubles. And due to her strong need of attaining what she desired, Arianna was easily angered when her plans were disrupted or things did not go along the ways she had planned, when she was the most viscous of all time. The young girl actively seeks revenge in her thickly venomous way, and that was when her carefully molded mask of patience began to crumble. Though Arianna was nowhere near evil, her hidden crave of superiority and nature of extremist were bound to make her prone to cruel and ruthless ways if nudged down the wrong path. Classes that she would be weak in would be Astronomy and History of Magic that appeared to be useless to her. It was likely that she might be bad in Care of Magical Creatures as well because of her particular disinterest in animals.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Slytherin. She possessed nearly all of the qualities that resembled Slytherin, and she would fit into nowhere else but the Serpents' Den.

Name: Jayce / Colby / Maddie

House: Ravenclaw / Hufflepuff

Date Leaving: Today

Date Returning: ...unsure. :/

Reason for departure: So school and homework and stress are all cracking down on me. This is not me saying I'm going away. This is just a notice to say that I won't be as active and that I'll usually only get time to really RP on the weekends. I always log on to check for staff things to do though. But if Colby and Maddie are in a thread with you and I don't reply for a few days, then please PM my Jayce account. Sometimes I honestly lose track of time and when I only think I've forgotten a thread for a day, it's actually been four days or more.

-thumbs up-

Sounds great-- but your 'which house and why' reasons for Hufflepuff are the same reasons you thought she'd do well in Gryffindor and don't really suit Hufflepuff. <3 Make sure you edit it so it fits the house in question, rather than just changing the house name.

Just swap the title once you've done so.

Heya Lucian and welcome to HPRPG~!

However, before we can begin with the sorting process, I'm going to have to ask that you remove the extra formatting from your character sheet. ^^; It's best to have it uniform with everything, after all, so the general left align and black will do.

Once you've made the above change just swap the title from 'pending' to 'edited' and we'll continue with the sorting from there.

Thank you for editing~! :biglove:

Unfortunately, Gryffindor house is currently closed, so we're going to go ahead and pop Mia on the waiting list. If, at any time during your wait, you feel you can see Mia in another house feel free to edit your sheet accordingly and poke us here.

Heya Wiath and welcome to HPRPG~!

However, before we can sort you, there are a few things that need editing. First, Wiath is more than welcome to be extremely pale with really, really light blond hair; see, anti-pigmentia doesn't exactly exist. ^^; The closest to that would be 'albino' and that doesn't just effect hair, or skin, or eyes- it effects everything and since you just want Wiath to be really pale with light hair, it'd be much easier to just leave it as that: he's really pale and his hair is really light blond.

One small thing in his history for now, since the other things that need to be edited here ought to be changed when you change his hair color: could you remove the exact year he was born? The timeline at HPRPG is rather liquid-y and characters age a different paces due to our advancement guidelines, so the year is never exactly set in stone. <3

Additionally, can you remove the (personality strengths) and so on from the strengths and weakness portions? We ask that those sections are done in paragraph form, not list form, and can be written to where we'll understand which is what without specifying. Feel free to check out some approved applications if you need a visual idea of what we're looking for here.

Lastly, though I'm not sure why, you cut down the ~*Official HPRPG Character Sheet*~ to just 'house' -- you'll have to add the exact wording here ;) --but we still need the house of your choice for Wiath as well as 'why' you think he belongs in that house.

Once you've made the above changes just swap the title from 'pending' to 'edited'.

The Sorting Hat (aka Character Sheets) / Lucian Zypher - Pending
« Last post by Lucian Zypher on 14 Feb 2012, 08:25 pm »
First and Last Name:
Lucian Zypher

Bloodline:
Pure

Hair Color:
Black

Eye Color:
Vivid Green

General Build:
Petite

Height:
Short

Birthplace:
London

Brief Childhood History:
Lucian had no need for want as a child. As a Pureblood his families wealth and way of upbringing caused him to have every toy, book, and item of clothing he could ever want. People bowed to him before he could even speak, and waited on him hand and foot the moment he beckoned. The only thing he ever went without was his parents love, his family was cold and fake, no more loving than the contract that had created them. Perhaps that was why, at the young age of ten, the boy decided to run away from the Zypher Manor and leave it all behind.

Not long after running away the boy had quickly found himself lost in muggle London with nothing more than plain dress robes and a handful of Wizarding money to find his way to his grandparents house in America. He never made it that far. Not more than a few hours after he had left home did a group of bandits recognize the heir to their enemy's family line. Deciding that they would take their revenge on the child before returning it to it's home, the stole his few Galleons and forced him under the Crusiatus curse for such and extent of time that the child went blind.

After that the child had been dumped on the outskirts of the Zypher land to be found by a house elf tending the gardens. Over the next year the ten year old boy learned to live with his blindness, sporting a starched white blindfold over his eyes, and relearning how to do everyday things. It didn't matter that his mother had almost disowned him, he could now be unique in a world of clones, something that was more priceless than anything else to him.

Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
Lucian is exceptionally good at Herbology, having spent much time in the gardens while recovering. He is also well practiced in Defense Against the Dark Arts having been exposed the the Cruciatus curse from the time he was young. His stony silence and careful decision making have also aided him in the business aspects of his life, he was expected to follow in his father's footsteps, as well as in building bonds with allies.

Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
Lucian, not having the ability to see, struggles with Potions, he can never tell if he's measured the correct amount of an ingredient, or even if its the correct ingredient. Being raised in an unloving environment has caused Lucian to be distrustful, leaving him to have a hard time interacting with peers or forming friendships. Any past attempts have ended in a less than pleasant manner.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:
I feel my character belongs in Slytherin, not only because of his upbringing, but also because of his intelligence and determination. If he had allowed himself to become full of self loathing and self pity, he never would have been able to work around being blind and would have merely allowed himself to be pampered.
