First and Last Name: Marion Shrike
Bloodline: Muggleborn
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark brown
General Build: Petite
Height: Short
Birthplace: London, England
Brief Childhood History: Marion had a pleasant, largely unremarkable childhood. Influenced by her mother, a scientific researcher, she developed a rather skeptical, pragmatic outlook on life. Never one for daydreaming, she preferred organizing her collections of rocks, shells, insects, leaves, or whatever else seemed interesting at the time (though her parents weren’t entirely thrilled by this habit when the collections spread from her room to the rest of the house). She wasn’t a very sociable child, and she spent plenty of time on her own, looking for lizards and snakes in the garden or reading. She learned to cook from her father on weekends, and quite enjoyed it, though she never quite grasped any artistic aspects of it, treating it more as a scientific experiment. Marion staunchly ignored the occasional outbursts of accidental magic that flared up around her, disliking their random and inexplicable nature, and afraid that her parents wouldn’t believe her even if she told them. She did well in school, and quite enjoyed it, though her blunt honesty and introversion didn’t make her many friends among her classmates. Her few close friends tended to be outgoing types with high self confidence. Not long before her Hogwarts letter arrived, she received a camera from her father, a professional photographer, and enjoyed the process of taking and developing photos enough to consider following in his footsteps, though she also quite liked the idea of becoming a biologist or archaeologist. Her invitation to attend a school of witchcraft and wizardry threw a wrench into her plans, and she felt some resentment against magic for having the gall to exist contrary to her expectations. Her parents, on the other hand, were thrilled (once they were convinced that it wasn’t all an elaborate hoax), especially her father, who had a romantic streak which seemed to have skipped his daughter entirely. Their enthusiasm warmed Marion to the idea of attending Hogwarts, and she eventually became excited to attend in spite of herself.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Marion’s analytical and methodical nature would serve her well in Potions and Arithmancy. She is intelligent and level-headed, a diligent student with an eye for detail. She is also a loyal friend to those who earn her respect and takes criticism fairly well.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Marion can be overly literal, not very artistic or sensitive, and generally dismissive of “impractical” areas of study—anything which does not, from her perspective, yield consistent or useful results. She would not be well-suited for Divination or DADA. Divination is far too mystical and defies analysis, and Defense requires quick thinking, which is not her forte—her thinking is more on the slow and deliberate side, looking many times before she leaps. (Dueling, too, would be quite challenging for her.) With her phlegmatic nature and stoic face, she can appear quite boring or even stupid to the casual observer.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Marion is best suited for Ravenclaw because she enjoys learning, logic and critical thinking. Ravenclaw, furthermore, would help her broaden her mind and grow to appreciate all forms of knowledge, including those she currently (unwisely) looks down on.
