Brief Childhood History:

The Grayson family is one of the oldest in the wizarding world.  Rivaling in fame with the Black and LeStrange family, the Grayson family tree is filled with wealthy and powerful witches and wizards.  The family was notoriously filled with Slytherins, and it had been rumored that many had dabbled in dark magic throughout the years.

Ken Grayson’s early childhood was marked by misfortune.  Ken was born in London on July 29.  His parents, Cole and Deanna Grayson, were followers of Voldemort before his fall at the Battle of Hogwarts.  Both Cole and Deanna were arrested for their involvement with the Dark Lord and placed in Azkaban, where they died before Ken's fifth birthday.  Ken was taken in by his father’s brother, Charles Grayson, and his wife Clare who lived in a large manor outside of Lancaster.

Ken’s father Cole had been very high-up in the Ministry of Magic’s Department of Magical Law Enforcement before his death, so money was never an issue for the family.  After their deaths, Ken had received what savings his parents had to their names.  It was not much, but it was enough for Ken to have a good start to his life.  Ken’s uncle Charles decided to lock the money away in Gringotts until the boy came of age.  As a published and semi-respected author in the wizarding community, Charles had more than enough money to pay for Ken’s schooling and all other expenses he may have.

Ken grew up knowing just how his parents had died – his Uncle Charles and Aunt Clare had thought it critical to let the boy know why he had become an orphan.  Charles and Clare were an outstanding magical couple with strong morals, and had never been involved with dark magic.  They wanted Ken to grow up with a strong foundation and become a good wizard in hopes of redeeming the damage that had been done to the Grayson name as a result of Cole and Deanna’s involvement with Voldemort.

As Ken grew older he began to immerse himself in books and knowledge.  Living with his aunt and uncle gave him every opportunity to do this, as they were both very apt scholars themselves.  Ken read bookshelves filled with magical history, and grew to resent and hate the use of dark magic.  Dark magic had corrupted his parents and caused their death.  Early in his life Ken vowed to fight against dark magic wherever he could.

Ken grew up as somewhat of a reclusive child.  The manor in which he lived with his aunt and uncle was very secluded, so Ken saw little of other children.  This caused him to develop into a very quiet, pensive child who could be very eloquent, but spoke rarely.  Ken possessed a great magical talent, which was apparent very early on, as he could make books from the highest shelves in the library gently float to his fingertips.  When he received his acceptance letter to Hogwarts, both Ken and his guardians were excited for the opportunity.

Strengths (At least three, including Personality and Academic)

Ken is a very apt scholar, and therefore does well with his schoolwork.  He studies hard, and often neglects personal relationships with other students in order to do his best academically.  Ken is very good at developing relationships with his teachers, as he often comes early or stays late in class to ask questions and to learn more about subjects.  Ken excels as Defense Against the Dark Arts because of his drive to stop the use of dark magic.  Also, Ken is very skilled in History of Magic because of his love of knowledge and attention to detail.  Lastly, Ken excels at Potions because of his keen problem solving skills, steady hands, and aptitude for measuring.

Weaknesses (At least three, including Personality and Academic)

Ken is very bad at forging and reinforcing friendships and relationships.  Books have always been Ken’s best friends, and he lacks the social confidence required to be outwardly charming and witty.  The best way Ken knows how to make ‘friends’ is to help students with their schoolwork, which he is often asked and usually willing to do.  This, however, often ends in Ken being used and without real friendships.  As previously mentioned, Ken can be very shy and quiet, only talking when spoken to directly.  Ken is deficient at Charms and Transfiguration, as he is very inept at manipulating the environment around him in all facets of life.  Also, Ken does not excel in Divination and Astronomy, as he views them as unimportant to everyday life and therefore does not put the effort into them like he does other subjects.  Flying has always been embarrassing for Ken, as he is somewhat uncoordinated and does not do well on a broom.

What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:

Ken Grayson belongs in Slytherin for several reasons.  First and foremost, every member of his long bloodline that has attended Hogwarts has been in Slytherin.  Furthermore, Ken puts his personal success and fame ahead of strong personal relationships.  Ken is not overly bold or brave, but his wit and cunning make up for his minor lack of courage.  Ken would be important and valuable for the House of Slytherin, as he is firmly against the use of the dark arts and will steer his classmates in the same direction.  Bound for greatness, Ken would bring fame to Slytherin house without the blight of rumors and gossip.  Lastly, and most importantly, being in Slytherin would allow Ken to redeem himself and his parents, and he could prove to Hogwarts and the wizarding community that dark magic has been stamped out of the Grayson family.

Hello there! Welcome to HPRPG! Before we can get you sorted, there are a few things to attend to.

You will need to remove the year in which Ken was born, since timelines are very loose here at HPRPG. In addition, his parents can not have been Death Eaters, but they can still have been Voldermort followers that died in the battle of course.

Once you've edited that, just change your title from 'pending' to 'edited'!
