Brief Childhood History:
Ava's mother Anna was a muggle born who attended Hogwarts and was sorted into Hufflepuff. After graduation she returned to northern Ireland where she met Richard who was a muggle goat farmer and they were soon after married. Ava and Abigail were born on May 15th. By 5 years old there were noticeable differences between Ava and her sister. For one Abigail was very outgoing and always loved to be around people while Ava preferred to make friends with the animals she helped her father care for and the characters that were brought to life in the books she read. She and her father were very close and she often went with him when he was herding the goats. Though Ava's mother did have magical training she believed it was important that her daughters learned the value of hard work so she did not often use her abilities to do housework. Most of Ava's exposure to the magical world were through the bedtime stories that her mother told her. Living quite a distance outside the small town of Ballycastle it was much easier for Ava and Abigail to be home schooled. This suited Ava just fine because she never knew quite how to act around other children.
It was quite a shock to all when Ava received her letter to Hogwarts while Abigail did not. Ava felt sure it was a mistake she had been content just staying and helping her father on the farm, it was Abigail that had been impatiently waiting her 11th birthday so she could leave. Though Ava had enjoyed the childhood stories of the magical world she had never felt a strong desire to include herself in them. The arrival of Ava's letter became a difficult time for the Kingston family. Abigail refused to talk to anyone, Richard was both excited for his little princess as well as sad that he would not be able to spend as much time with her, and Anna was beyond excited turning all her attention on Ava and fretting about all the things she had not taught her yet. Ava was just plan confused. She liked the idea of learning how to use magic, but then it had upset Abigail so much she wished there could be some way that she could trade places with her. There was also her father, she had spent almost every day with him since she could walk and had never taken much interest in the things her mother would try to teach her about Hogwarts, she felt totally unprepared. Yet there was that little flicker of excitement that slowly grew as the day to leave came closer.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
Having worked closely with the animals on her home farm Ava developed a way to understand animals, this would make her excellent at Care of Magical Creatures. While out with her father he often quizzed her on the different flowers and trees that they would come across, this gave her a passion for plants of all kinds which will help her do well in Herbology. Ava though not a people person was always good at solving problems, weather that were something out of a book or a disagreement between two people. She was often told she would make a good judge back home because she had a knack for reading between the lines of people's stories and was always fair in her suggestions for a resolution.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
While highly intelligent Ava does have a short attention span which keeps her from being able to sit still when there is nothing for her to do with her hands. This will unfortunately make it difficult to pay attention in History of Magic. Even when she knows the answer to a question Ava is not likely the one to raise her hand preferring to keep to herself and not gain the attention of others. This makes it difficult to make friends. The main weakness of little Ava is her fear of failure. She is so afraid that she will not do well at whatever task she is given that she tends to over think and over work herself. An example of this is when she was about 7 years old her father asked her to make some chamomile tea for her mother who was not feeling well. Ava measured the tea leaves and began seeping the leaves in hot water checking it often to make sure it was not too weak or too strong and when she couldn't decide she would set that cup aside and begin brewing another. When her father finally came to check on her she was working on her fourth cup of tea and still swearing it wasn't good enough for her mum.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:
Ravenclaw, Ava is quiet and sometimes shy but that is just because she is thinking. She can solve many kinds of puzzles and problems easily and loves to learn new things whenever she can.
