Brief Childhood History: Liberty Dawson, known as Libby to most, was born on an early October night to two muggle parents - Barry and Caroline Dawson. She had a surprisingly normal childhood for someone of magical ability, a sort of calm before the storm of her discovering her powers, spent between attending a muggle primary school and having her nose stuck in a book. Harlow, a small and mostly insignificant city, has been her home her entire life.
When Libby was three years old her little brother Eddie was born, and the two of them always had a very strong bond, gender and age differences considered. It was because of Eddie that Libby first discovered her powers when she was seven. This came as quite a shock to her parents, a school teacher and hair stylist, but they embraced their daughter's unique talents and were enthusiastic about her future.
Besides her brother, Libby preferred to spend most her her free time alone, reading book upon book in her father's library. It was expected to find her sunk into an armchair in the study or living room, engrossed in a book that would seem to anyone else much too grown up for someone her age. Anyone who knew Libby before she left for Hogwarts would know that on the outside was a little girl, yet on the inside lay a much more introspective, perceptive and thoughtful soul.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Libby was blessed with the gift of logic and reasoning skills, and she has always been quick to find a solution to a problem or an answer to a question. She can be indecisive at times, but she has the intellectual capacity to explore every inch of a topic, idea, thought, etc. and her final conclusion is more often insightful than not.
Because she was not raised in a world of practical magic, she is captivated by any sort of spell work. She has a knack for evenly devoting her time to all schoolwork that needs attention, but she would admit to anyone that she has a preference for classes such as Charms and Transfiguration, which in her opinion, combine the perfect blend of mental and physical stimulation and growth.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Though her romanticism is not always a bad thing, Libby often finds herself with her head in the clouds. She is idealistic but she prefers to live in a world of theory, rather than a world of reality. Because Libby enjoys learning and broadening her horizons, she can be quite a bit of a teachers pet (though it's hard to hate her for this; she is genuinely pleasant to everyone she meets, and is unable to form judgements or biases).
Academically, Libby is a fair student in all her classes, and she doesn't have a subject that she truly dislikes. But just because she enjoys it, doesn't mean she is always perfect at it - this is okay with her, she looks at every failure as a challenge and an opportunity to become better. The subjects she struggles with the most tend to be History of Magic and Herbology as they rarely require a wand, and Libby assumes that if it doesn't require a wand, it doesn't require a brain, and thus is uninteresting to her.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Inquisitive and intelligent minds such as Libby's are best suited for the Ravenclaw house. She may not realize it, but however brilliant she is, she has far to go and I feel she would grow best with like-minded students around her; if there is anything that Libby craves, it's to constantly advance and evolve to the next level.
