Brief Childhood History:
Emma was born to Pureblood parents Brian and Margaret Phillips on January 4th in Cambridge. She grew up in a small country home outside the city with her older brother John, spending her time playing in the garden with other young witches and wizards from the surrounding countryside. For the first 5 years of her life, she spent her time following her brother around. When John got his acceptance letter to Hogwarts, Emma became much more independent. She loved being creative and with the help of her dad, she created a treehouse in the large oak tree in her backyard.
Emma's best friend growing up was her cousin Amy. The two girls spent a lot of time together in the treehouse playing pretend when they were younger, then slowly their interests became more quidditch oriented and the girls flew a lot. Amy moved to Scotland when the girls were 9, and since then they've seen less of each other, but kept in contact through letters.
She was very close with her parents; her mum wrote a weekly book review column for the Daily Prophet from home, and spent lots of time helping Emma with her little projects, while her dad worked in Magical Law Enforcement, specializing in youth crime. Though she never attended muggle school, Emma enjoyed learning new things, keeping her brothers old school books in her room, trying to understand them. When she finally got her letter to Hogwarts, she was ecstatic, begging her parents to let her go to Diagon Alley that instant and buy her all of her supplies.
Strengths:
Emma is confident and independent, and although she enjoys spending time by herself, she also likes hanging out with friends. She is sensitive to her surroundings and trusting of everyone until she gets to know them. She is resilient, quickly bouncing back from negative experiences. She is very competitive, pushing herself to be better than others in whatever interests her. She has an aptitude for Charms, Transfiguration and Astronomy.
Weaknesses:
Emma has a difficult time making friends because she is very stubborn. She likes having things done a certain way and up to a certain standard. When this doesn't happen she can become very irritable. She has a slightly controlling personality and has a hard time letting things go. She can become jealous of others when they beat her at something she worked hard at, such as academics and quidditch. She has difficulties in Defense Against the Dark Arts as well as Potions.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why:
I feel that Emma belongs in Ravenclaw. Her thirst for knowledge and competitive nature will push her to strive for academic success. Her perfectionist tendencies will drive her to become better than others and she will work endlessly to try and improve her grades in the subjects she has difficulties in. If Ravenclaw closes, her second match would be Gryffindor because of her stubbornness, confidence and competitive nature.
