Brief Childhood History:
Lacie is the youngest of three children, the only girl, and the only product of her father's sham of a second marriage. Her mum, Dianne, is a witch - a pureblood, in fact - who married muggle widower Max Sorenson to prove to her old fashioned family that she was quite capable of making her own decisions and did not need them to run her life or their financial support. It didn't last long - a little less than a year later she'd had enough of simple living and left Max so she could return to the lap of pureblood luxury. It was only afterwards that she found out she was pregnant. When Lacie was born, she sent the child to live with Max, as raising a muggle child was not something on her list of 'Things I Want To Do With My Life', and she felt it would inhibit her progress up the social ladder.
So, Lacie spent the first eleven years of her young life with her father and brothers, and has absolutely no complaints whatsoever about it. She loves her Da, and since she never really had the advantage of growing up with a mum she never really missed it. The Sorensons struggled financially, but it wasn't something Lacie was ever ashamed of. She and her brothers wore hand-me-downs and didn't have some of the same advantages as some of the better off children they went to primary school with, but they had a roof over their heads and plenty of space to run and play. That, to Lacie, was more important than having some computer gadget or a new dress, which she wouldn't like anyway - she's never been one for dressing up.
The Sorensons are a tightknit group and very rough and tumble. Growing up with her brothers, Lacie learned to shout to be heard and that sometimes a sock to the arm is a more effective way of proving a point than any kind of speech would ever be. She never really had many friends her own age. Other kids thought she was a bit weird and there was no denying that she was also a bit of a bully. Her closest friends were and always have been her brothers - she's not sure what she's going to do at Hogwarts without them.
After her eleventh birthday and the arrival of her Hogwarts letter, Max wrote to Dianne, as she knows more about this sort of thing. Dianne has now become an actual presence in her daughter's life, and Lacie's not really sure what to think of it. They don't have much in common and her Mum is constantly trying to coax Lacie into behaving like more of a lady - something Lacie has no interest in. But she doesn't mind the extra pocket money Dianne gives her, and it's nice to know she'll go into Hogwarts in September knowing at least a little bit about the wizarding world.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic):
Lacie is very thoroughly herself and has no qualms with that, even if some people might not like it. She's not afraid to speak her mind or do what she wants. She has a very lively imagination and an adventurous nature, both of which makes it very easy for her to entertain herself without needing other people or things around. Although not clever in the traditional sense, she is quite resourceful and has grown adept at getting her own way, one way or the other. Although she's never had an overabundance of friends, she's very loyal to the ones she does make and will stand up for them regardless of the adversary - no one is allowed to pick on them except for her. Scholastically her strengths are few and far between, but she does have a knack for hands on work like Herbology and flying (pity that's only a first year class).
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic):
Lacie is naturally bossy and possesses little to no tact. Her personality is loud and abrasive and she is, in short, generally obnoxious. She lies more often than she tells the truth, for no other reason than that she finds it fun to see how many ridiculous things she can actually get other people to believe. When she wants something, she takes it, and she'll use force if necessary. She has a very short attention span and hates sitting still, and isn't very academically bright. She struggles with most of her school subjects, scraping by with a barely passing grade.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Lacie is brave and bold like a Gryffindor, but less out of a desire to be courageous and noble and stick up for the underdog, more because she's simply not scared by most things and finds life boring if she's not pushing the limits in some fashion. She can be ruthless and domineering, but lacks the finesse and drive necessary for Slytherin. She definitely lacks the brains for Ravenclaw. Since Hufflepuff "takes the rest" (and that is the only house currently open), I would like to see Lacie there.
