First and Last Name: Amalie "Poth" Boer
Bloodline: Half-Blood (I think. Both of her parents are half-blood, so according to math, she is too.)
Hair Color: Tawny
Eye Color: Light brown; looks orangeish in the sunlight
General Build: Petite
Height: Short
Birthplace: Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire
Brief Childhood History: Born to two half-blood parents (Avery and Freya Boer), she grew up with exposure to both worlds through literature and art, though the magical side of her life outweighed the mundane side by far. Avery is a patient and understanding man who makes a point of considering all sides of everything. Freya is a feisty woman with quick temper and a passion for Herbology. They make their living by scouring the wild around their solitary home in the Forest of Dean for potion ingredients and supplying them to the apothecary in Yorkley, a city on the edge of the forest. When they had their children, they simply started bringing them along. Poth has a brother named Icarus, who's just graduated this year. They've always got along very well. Having been born seven years apart, Icarus was old enough to appreciate babies and Poth was given someone to idolize, though as it turned out, the two had very different tastes. Where one lacked, the other excelled. Icarus is better at sports and far more charismatic than his younger sister. He was placed in Gryffindor, for having not only the ability, but the desire to face his fears and become stronger. Poth lacks these things, and has always tended to stay within her comfort zone and just ignore the things that scare her. She's developed an odd phobia of mirrors, though she won't ever tell why.
Poth earned her nickname, the one bestowing it upon her being her father. On the trips into the forest, she was quick to point out useful ingredients and even quicker to offer to lug them around. She had even (very shoddily) sewn a multi-compartment bag from an assortment of fabric scraps Freya picked up for her, after much (rather unnecessary) begging. The nickname was shortened from "Little 'Pothecary". Her motives behind wanting to carry every little thing they found was slightly naughty; she had a few pockets in the bag that were fairly well hidden and she poked in them little bits of ingredients she needed for late night potionry in her closet. The bits weren't missed too terribly, but she was found out rather quickly. She was scolded, but allowed to continue with restrictions.
The family gets on alright, but they don't have a whole lot of money to spare. They timed the birth of their children so they wouldn't have to pay for multiple sets of books and robes and other necessary school things at the same time. Icarus was born when Freya was 20 and Avery was 19.
Poth's greatest desire is to grow up and own an Apothecary, though she wouldn't mind becoming a teacher either.
As a reward for not being a squib, I suppose, once each child received their letters for Hogwarts, Avery and Freya dipped into their savings and splurged on a pet of the child's choosing. Icarus purchased an enchanted black rat named Bacillus who reacts appropriately to his conversations by nodding and shaking his head and expressing various emotions. Poth chose a female Specticaled Owl named Bastika.
Strengths: Poth is a fiercely loyal friend. She's also extremely friendly and loves chatting with just about anyone. She's extremely mannerly, and puts a great deal of worth in politeness. She's much like her father, and observes all sides of things. She tries her hardest to see the good in people before holding them in distrust or contempt. When it comes to her school work, she's passionate and ambitious, and does the very best she can even in her worst classes out of a sheer adoration of learning. She's been reading from a very young age and does so very quickly. The classes she's best at are Potions, which she's had a long time passion for, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Weaknesses: While not shy, she's rather awkward in the way she speaks and fails to understand most jokes and sarcasm, which gets exceedingly tiring after a while. Also, her loyalty comes back to bite her in the butt. If anyone wrongs her friends, she turns into a cold, half-maniac, evil banshee, and screams her heart out until the tide of her rage dies down. She's terrible at flying, with a fear of going more than a handful of meters off the ground and even worse at Quidditch (or anything that requires more physical activity than walking or taking a leisurely swim, for that matter). She's not very good at Charms, Care of Magical Creatures or History of Magic. She simply has no memory for names and dates. Most animals don't seem to like her, perhaps because she's such an apprehensive person. And she can't explain why she's no good at Charms, though it's a cause of deep frustration for her.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Miss Amalie would do well in Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Hufflepuff. Gryffindor is the only place that wouldn't suit her well, as she's not very brave at all (though she does consider herself chivalrous). She's a passionate learner, a kind and loyal friend, and has a strong desire to prove her worth and gain strength. Though, if she had to choose, she'd love Hufflepuff the most. Many kind and friendly people, lots of talents and a wide array of personalities for her to nestle in and get to know. It would be the most like a family for her.

Hi there! Welcome to HPRPG!
Unfortunately I am unable to sort you at the moment because here at HPRPG, we do not pick the house for you. So if you could go back and choose one house for Poth and explain why she would best fit in that house and/or why she wouldn't fit very well in the others, that would be fantastic.
Once you've done that, just change the topic title from 'pending' to 'edited' and we'll move on from there! :biglove:

Many thanks, m'liege. ouo
-
Thank you for making the edits!
Unfortunately Ravenclaw is closed right now, so I'm just going to stick you onto the waiting list, but if at any point you'd like to put Poth in a different house, simply edit the sheet accordingly and reply here. :)
-
Alrighty. I very well may do that, assuming one of the houses she fits into open up soon.
I greatly appreciate you patience in working with me and thank you kindly for sifting through my rather haphazard application. ^-^

I switched from Ravenclaw to Hufflepuff, if that's not a problem.
-
Not a problem at all. :biglove:
