Birthplace: Leeds, Yorkshire, England
Brief Childhood History: Lyla was born to a muggle woman, Elizabeth McKnight, and a wizard of whom she never knew the name of. Lyla’s father kept what he was secret from his wife until he had to explain why Elizabeth’s rose garden died the day Lyla threw a tantrum about not being able to get that stuffed toy owl she saw at the store. Elizabeth was appalled and immediately divorced her husband and snatched Lyla away to the Scottish countryside to live with her side of the family. Elizabeth did love Lyla, but only the muggle side of her. At times they got along, but usually they were bickering at each other about something stupid.
Lyla’s cousin, Natalie, was the closest thing she had to a best friend. The shared a love of adventure and a similar sense of humour, and didn’t always follow the rules. But Lyla could never say a word about her being a witch, her mother had forbidden her to. And even if she did tell, Natalie would never understand.
They attended a small all-girls private school together and rode horses in their spare time. Natalie was an extraordinary violin player and she inspired Lyla. On stressful days Lyla would collapse onto her bed with a pencil and a piece of paper. She’d say, “Natalie, play me a song.” So Natalie would play and Lyla would take what she heard and translated it onto paper. She would paint it on canvas later.
Strengths (Including Personality and Academic): Lyla’s usually a sunshiny person and thinks very practically. She's never afraid to speak her mind or fight for what she believes in. She's quite friendly, but all the same she doesn't tolerate dishonesty in people. She’s loves Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Care of Magical Creatures. She finds History of Magic very interesting, and absorbs what the teacher says like a sponge. It's like learning about a part of her that she always knew was there but never got to know.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): Lyla has a tendency to hold grudges and she keeps her anger bottled up inside of her until it explodes. She’s never had someone who she could open up to completely, so she doesn’t know how to. She has a fear of heights so she hates flying. Also, she doesn’t like Divinations because she’s afraid that she won’t be able to accept what she sees. Despite how much she enjoys Transfiguration, she has trouble with just about every aspect of it. She has a similar situation in Herbology, but much less so.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Lyla belongs in Gryffindor because she’s happiest when she’s overcome a challenge. She may not be fearless, but she doesn’t let her fears stop her from doing what she wants to do. She strives to be a hero although she usually falls short. She may not be the brightest person around but she thinks freely. She knows what she values and lives in a way that shows it.

Before we can get you sorted, there are just a few things to attend to. Could you provide us with a couple more of Lyla's strengths? And then also give us a core class that Lyla will have trouble with in her weaknesses. It's great to know that she won't like Divination, but that's a third year class and we'd like to know what she'd struggle with in her first two years at Hogwarts. ;)
Once you've done that, change your title from 'pending' to 'edited' and we'll go from there!
