Brief Childhood History: Lianne is a precocious girl born to Wizengamot officials, Robert and Leah Hayle - Hogwarts alumni, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor respectively. Although the parents were pureblood and part of the nouveau-riche financial status, they were quick to teach their firstborn daughter the value of morals and fair play. This meant a constant downplaying of their blood purity, and persistent bickering with other neighbouring pureblood families, who would in turn, brand them as blood traitors.
Unfortunately, Lianne was only superficially obedient growing up and she never quite believed the talk of equality, justice and loyalty (mildly ironic for a daughter of law-makers). To her, it seemed profoundly self-sabotaging to simply give respect to others for its own sake. Even though she was born in wealth and got everything she and her sisters wanted, Lianne found herself desiring more refined control over her environment. She was often disdainful of her agreeable little sisters and often came across as self-contained, rational and coldly distant by comparison.
Her time was occupied by private tutoring, etiquette classes and all the pretentions come with a family that has acquired a large amount of financial power in a short time. As for hobbies, she liked solving puzzles by herself, enjoyed reading and hearing about the magical world, especially the stories her parents would tell whenever dark wizards were on trial. The Hayle's nurtured her enthusiasm, thinking that maybe she could turn out to be an Auror in the future. To truth was less sentimental, she found something attractive about running against her parent's ideals. She identified with following one's instincts and making use of tools no matter if they involved "dark magic". A spell is just a spell, she'd tell herself confidently.
Strengths: She tunnel-visions on her goals and excludes all else, she trusts her own judgment. Lianne is a rational clear-thinker, and her etiquette makes her look as very-polite and publicly considerate. Academically, she has a keen interest in the dark arts, which naturally translates to investing all her energy in Defence Against the Dark Arts class, and enjoys Potions though she isn't necessarily gifted at it, merely enthusiastic.
Weaknesses (Including Personality and Academic): She doesn't really believe in caring for others and this shows in her dismissal of Care of Magical creatures and Herbology. Additionally, she's not interested in Sports, Quidditch or Flying - preferring more abstract subject matters in general. Underneath her politeness, she despises weakness and neediness in others more than anything else. She's not very tolerant of irrationality, and is extremely resistant to people trying to inspire feelings of justice.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Slytherin. When it comes down to it, she rejects Gryffindor imperatives on bravery and chivalry, and really dislikes loyalty-for-its-own-sake, which is a trademark of Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw is an option, given her intellectual inclination, but between exploring a new truth because "learning is fun" and following her own goals, she'd rather do the latter. She is a pureblood, but will seldom flaunt that fact in public.
